Solution Architect – Data
This role is based in Nottingham – On-site -5 days a week

About the role
Reporting into the Data Platform Director, the Platform Architecture team provides knowledge, expertise in all aspects of solution architecture for our cloud data platform project with a solid grasp of the IT and data strategy to support our data science and analytics community within Boots. We’re looking for someone to make the next step in their career and join us as a Solution Architect.
The centralised data platform is based on a lakehouse and domain mesh architecture, centered around Microsoft Azure & Databricks technologies.
You'll also be:
- Leading the definition, design and delivery of data products and solutions on the Data Platform.
- Ensuring all solution designs meet agreed requirements, align with platform strategy, principles, standards and patterns, are cost-effective, deliverable and supportable.
- You'll be working with technology and engineering partners and with other teams to deliver platform capabilities, allowing us to maximise the value of our data.
- Shape the platform roadmap, developing the architectural patterns, frameworks, and components.
What you’ll need to have
- Proficient technical and analytical abilities and a passion for getting results for customers - internal and external.
- Ability to create Solution Outlines, High-level and Detailed designs to meet agreed business requirements
- Experience of participating in the creation and maintenance of design patterns, standards and design blocks to facilitate wider consistency and promote re-use of design elements, delivery at pace, quality assurance and cost efficiencies.
- A broad and balanced understanding of IT capabilities, methods, and technologies
- Familiarity with Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Data Science and Data Engineering needs to fulfil data & analytics solutions
- Architecture experience in the cloud (Azure Storage, Databricks, Delta Lake, Lakehouse, Azure AI, ML Ops)
It would be great if you also have
- Appreciation of Data Security and governance
- Exposure of working with matrix teams of multiple vendors and global teams in the design and delivery of projects
- Experience working in Retail, Pharmacy, Healthcare, Supply Chain or CPG industries
