Core Responsibilities:

  • This is a software development role and hands on coding is to be expected
  • Design and implement technology stack for connecting physical toys to digital backends
  • Design, build and/or configure cloud backends through close collaboration with other product team members
  • Design, build embedded software to enable tech enabled toys to join connected and metaverse backed play experiences
  • Engineer products to the highest standards of security and data privacy by implementing and following the LEGO Group security and data privacy principles from ideation to production release and beyond.
  • Engineer products that implement business logic, modern design patterns and architectural principles
  • Engineer products that follow highest coding standards e.g., documentation and efficiency

This is a critical role for the Play Software team – a part of the organization building next generation digital LEGO experiences. In this role you will have the chance to help design and build critical pieces of software to enable millions of kids to play, learn and connect with friends. You will work with many peers and teams across the company to build world class software and hardware integrations for millions of users and see your work create fun and memories for kids and grownups alike.

Do you have what it takes?

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or similar
  • Hands on experience building large scale distributed systems connecting millions of edge devices through cloud technology
  • Experience with server design, data communication protocols, distributed state synchronization algorithms and other key technical areas for building massive multiplayer online games
  • Experience programming embedded client systems for edge/IoT devices
  • Dedicated engineer with a focus on delivering high-performing code and solutions
  • Strong communicator and coordinator who enables efficient project execution across multiple interdependent teams
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
