Description 

Are you passionate about transforming data in to actionable insight? Do you have experience as a data analyst, using software such as SAS, IBM SPSS Modeler, SQL or equivalent? If so, you could join the Workforce, Performance and Productivity team within Retail.

Our team purpose is to ensure we have the right number of people, in the right place, at the right time to serve our customers, whether that be in a branch on the high street, or over the phone.

In this rewarding role you will undertake in depth analysis to draw out key insights from big data, alongside designing, building, developing and enhancing capacity models to support the Branches and Telephony Sales. Your ability to quickly see trends and issues from data will enable you to deliver actionable insights, ultimately having a real impact on our Society’s planning and decision making.

What you’ll be doing

The varied nature of this role means that you will be involved in short, medium, and long term insight; providing planning support for day-to-day, for upcoming projects and for future strategies.

For example, you are likely to be involved in;

  • Completing in depth analysis used directly by senior management.
  • Telling the story of the analysis and bringing it to life to drive action.
  • Making recommendations for future business strategy.
  • Matching resource to demand and making sure we have the right people in place to deliver on our promises to our customers.

About you

We are looking for someone with a proven analytical ability, balanced with strong problem solving and inter-personal skills, who can work collaboratively within a team of insight professionals and influence the business. You will be / have:

  • A confident and advanced user of Microsoft Excel (e.g. vlookups, pivot tables and complex formulae), and of Microsoft PowerPoint (to pull packs together and present information).
  • Comfortable working with large volumes of data using tools such as SAS, IBM SPSS Modeller, SQL or Power BI.
  • Experience in completing analysis, with a proven ability to derive insight from various complex sources.
  • A logical and curious mindset, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to convey your analysis in a clear, concise and compelling way.
  • Have the ability to work at pace and react to changing work requests and priorities in a timely manner.
  • A relevant degree (such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Finance, Economics or other Science Discipline)
