Salary: The starting salary is £45,073 which, includes allowances totalling £2,841. The salary is broken down as £42,232 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £50,385. There is a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000

The Connect Data and Configuration team (CDAC) exists within the CONNECT programme and has three functions:
- data quality management
- application administration
- configuration
The role
This vacancy is for an application administration manager. You'll lead the team who maintain the CONNECT system in the background, with specific responsibilities for the management of covert and overt flags within CONNECT, proactive management plan teams, saved searches and user access and permissions.
You'll:
- oversee training and ongoing development of team members
- provide line management and second line management for the team
- participate in the development of policies and procedures concerning the teams business areas during the project phase, known as Pre-Drop 2
- post Drop 2 continued engagement with the wider organisation and continued development of services
- be responsible for high-level engagement with senior partners throughout the Met
- collaborate with internal and external agencies and partners to maintain the CONNECT platform
- report to the head of unit and represent the head of unit as and when required. This will require senior engagement and decision making that impacts the full range of the CONNECT platform services with a requirement to engage and make decisions that have a broad impact
- represent the Met at quarterly national meetings to present CONNECT performance, issues, risks and solutions designed and applied
- negotiate on behalf of the Met on any issues that impact our software or business processes
- present at senior leadership, senior project meetings, digital policing senior leadership team to provide briefings on CONNECT software platform management, performance, risks, issues, audits, security protocols both verbally and in writing
- be able to translate technical detail into information that non-technical personnel can understand and respond to
- be capable of presenting information with a view to changing decisions where appropriate in order to preserve Met data quality
- provide accountability and input for any CONNECT platform matters raised within their business area
- provide a Connect position on any changes requested that will have an impact on CONNECT or have a relationship with the CONNECT platform. This will require you to have the ability to engage in technical debate to secure outcomes that support CONNECT platform principles
- provide senior leadership briefings on CONNECT performance and issues both in writing and verbally where required
- engage with broader Met technical support strands such as digital policing, NEC, DXC, Atos and BT on technical issues and negotiate software and infrastructure solutions to maintain performance
- engage at a senior level with digital policing managers to secure effective technical performance of CONNECT with the ability to debate issues with senior Met colleagues
- deploy resources where appropriate to meet demand within CDAC and the wider CONNECT team
Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.
Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties.
