Volunteer Researcher
Can't Buy My Silence is an advocacy organization working in the UK and Canada to restrict the use of NDAs for sexual misconduct, harassment, discrimination and other wrongdoing.
The campaign is collecting (anonymized) personal testimonies from survivors and now has almost 120. This data would benefit greatly from qualitative coding using a recognized program like NVivo or similar. Similarly, with our partner Speak Out Revolution, we have almost 1500 surveys some of which are anecdotal comments which would also be useful to organize and perhaps code.
The campaign is staffed mostly by volunteers. We are a small (mostly women) but dedicated team and we are committed to working collaboratively and transparently with one another. We are presently focusing on trying to get this research data published - other than online - to inform numerous government consultations and legislative recommendations emerging in the UK and Canada and also in other parts of the world including the US, Australia and Ireland. The surveys and the testimonies are drawn from around the world also, and we believe represent the largest single source of data on NDA impacts and practice.
We would greatly appreciate the expertise of a researcher to tackle the qualitative coding, under my (Julie) supervision, and also to help us think through other ways to analyze and present the data. Credit and acknowledgements will be made in full in any publication, digital or print.
