What are we looking for?

Mars Petcare consists of five Divisions: Pet Nutrition, Royal Canin, Mars Veterinary Health & Diagnostics and Kinship. The Pet Nutrition division is currently embarking on a 3-year Digital Transformational program that aims to irreversibly digitise Mars.

Our purpose in the R&D Digital Transformation of Pet Nutrition Is to create step-change value creation for pets and pet parents by digitalising R&D to accelerate innovation, deliver important propositions and fuel an integrated supply chain, with Increased agility and reduced cost. Some of the key deliverables we will look to unlock are:

From siloed, small-scale product performance evaluation to a fully Integrated, evidence-based performance assessment through real-time predictive solutions; maximising capability and reducing evaluation time & cost by building confidence to drive superior propositions across the portfolio.

  • From traditional Innovation and scale-up protocols to innovative digital modelling which enables rapid scenario evaluation, accelerated development and scale-up, with increased agility and reduced costs/resources.
  • From dispersed physical quality records to digitalised quality standards, capturing of data and trend predictions, which can be leveraged to proactively mitigate emerging risks and avoid non-quality Impacts.
  • From fragmented legacy, IT systems holding unreliable data to an integrated R&D digital & data ecosystem to enact step-change operational efficiency and maximising business value by confidently utilising trustworthy data.

 

What will be your key responsibilities?

As the Visualisation Developer with expertise in Tableau, Power BI, and React.js, you will play a pivotal role in developing interactive data visualization solutions and web applications. You will work closely with database teams and business stakeholders to transform complex data into user-friendly and insightful visualizations, thereby fostering data-informed decision-making within the organization.

  • You will be responsible for the creation of arresting, beautiful visualisations that can quickly convey insights derived from complex data using Tableau and Power BI.
  • You will develop interactive and responsive web applications using React.js.
  • You will develop rich, interactive data visualizations, including graphs, charts, and other dynamic features.
  • You will collaborate with business analysts and back-end developers to define functional requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
  • You will rapidly design, prototype and iterate on creative concepts to meet the user requirements.
  • You will rapidly solve problems and fix bugs.
  • You will work with cross-functional teams along with end-user client teams to deliver a complete product.
  • You will enthusiastically evolve your technical skillset, engage in training and learn new technologies and techniques.
  • You will contribute to the Petcare Data Platform, helping build the foundations for a better understanding of pets and pet owners.
  • You will work in squads to focus on key areas of development within the Petcare Data Platform.
  • You will work comfortably in an agile and fast-paced environment.

 

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Significant experience working as a Visualisation Developer

Knowledge / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience developing in contemporary visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is required; SQL query writing, ETL skills (via SSIS, DataBricks, etc.) are highly desirable.
  • Experience with React.js for front-end development and knowledge of RESTful API development.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and related front-end technologies; experience with back-end technologies, such as Node.js, Python, or Java, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic software development lifecycle concepts.
  • Experience in a data/analytics role dealing with varied and complex data; confident working with structured and unstructured data from various domains.
  • Experience dealing with ambiguity and a desire to cooperate with others to achieve objectives.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex problems in a multicultural, global setting with technical and business teams.
  • Passionate about your personal development, demonstrable ability to rapidly develop new skills and fluidly move into adjacent domains.
