The Position 

The position of a Senior Solution Architect is a unique blend of Data, People, and Business. It belongs to the Novo Nordisk DD&IT (Digital, Data, and IT) department. which is on a journey in digital transformation and innovation where data make a real difference for millions of patients worldwide.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and maintain the architecture design, data flows and integrations in our research laboratories and cloud infrastructure.
  • Provide architectural overview and guidance to projects/activities and the researchers within the Oxford site.
  • Participate in work with the Target Architectural Framework and take responsibility for the data integration by ensuring scalability, security, and reliability while identifying and prioritizing technical initiatives.
  • Participate in design discussions with our developer team in Oxford and London.
  • Work closely with architect colleagues from Måløv in Denmark, to ensure that domain architecture principles, guidelines, and best practices are constantly established, evolved, and aligned across DD&IT globally.

For this position we offer a hybrid working model 2 days from home 3 fixed days in our new central London Office, where you will be working closely with our digital specialists, or in Oxford, where you could collaborate directly with our scientists.

Qualifications

We’re searching for a candidate who meets the following criteria:

  • Strong experience as a Solution Architect and knowledge of the latest tech stacks in cloud, systems integration, and automation. Having worked with lab systems is a plus.
  • Experience from Event Driven Architecture, Metadata management, API management platform. Experience with AWS & Azure is a plus.
  • Knowledge of modern development practices, DevOps and MLOPS machine learning deployments.
  • A Secure by Design mindset, to ensure IT systems are secure, reliable, and in compliance with regulations.
  • Proven expertise in seamlessly integrating cloud platforms, particularly Azure or AWS, with operational technologies (OT) and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to foster scalable, secure, and efficient lab environments.

Good ability to maintain dialog with various stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, understanding the problems, and suggest innovative solutions to our researchers and scientists.

 

About the Department

You will become part of our Oxford/London site, reporting to the Head of DDIT-R&ED UK while being functionally anchored into the IT Architecture department in DD&IT-R&ED where you will work alongside 15 talented Architects. This role may also require you to work from Måløv, Denmark office from time to time.

The position is connected to our DDIT-R&ED UK department located in the heart of London and the University of Oxford medical campus. The department currently consists of 12 IT and Data specialists and is building up additional capabilities and capacity. We are strongly linked with the Novo Nordisk Research Centre Oxford (NNRCO), an innovative target discovery unit with a focus on identifying novel, game-changing therapies for patients. The site is a fusion of the best of academia, biotech, software engineering, and big pharma to realize cutting-edge biology. NNRCO operates at the boundaries of frontier science with a mandate to find dynamic, agile, and distinctive new ways of working to diversify the company’s pipeline with disruptive medicines. Additionally, we support our In-Silico and In-Vitro needs and provide IT infrastructure in close collaboration with the global DD&IT organisation and product teams.
