Senior Security Operations Manager
Location: Bradford, Chatham, Petersfield or London
Working Pattern: Our working style is hybrid, but we recognise the importance of
collaborative working with our colleagues typically spending 2 days per week in our office. More office-based working may be required as the work demands.

You and Your Team:
As a Senior Security Operations Manager, your main responsibility is to protect the assets of the organisation by ensuring all people, processes and technology operate in a secure manner. You will lead teams of specialist IT security operations resources providing IT security, expertise and services.
Reporting into the Head of Cyber Security, this role has specific responsibility for management of guidelines, procedures and framework alignment for IT Security, including IT Security Assurance and Governance, to support the Bank’s requirement to secure IT.
Some of the Key Responsibilities include:
- Managing the Group’s Cyber Security team by providing day-to-day management of teams and assist the Head of Cyber in delivering security operations strategic and tactical plans for cyber security within VBG.
- Managing the Group’s SOC by continuously adapting detection capabilities, through appropriate data sources and rules, to protect customer and business data.
- Management and escalation of identified incidents.
- Working with Rapid7, our MSP, to ensure that we deliver services to support security posture
- Working with the MSP to delivery services that improve our security posture and visibility to detect and respond to threats.
- Working with leadership team to ensure efficient and effective, proactive, and reactive security monitoring and defence across the Group’s information assets on a daily basis.
- Management of the vulnerabilities identified in the estate through regular scanning capabilities and processes which protect the business against exploitation of relevant threats through technical protection mechanisms and patch management with the infrastructure team.
- Regular KPIs reporting including vulnerabilities across the estate, remediation activities and areas for improvement.
What will make you stand out?
- Sufficient experience of working in a Security Operations function - including management experience
- A strong understanding of securing public cloud technologies (preferably Azure)
- Solid, proven experience managing a technical security incident response program
- Good knowledge of privileged access management, vulnerability management, secrets management and access control
- Be able to build good working relationships with both technical and business stakeholders, gaining their respect and trust based on your knowledge and professionalism
- Experience of working in a large company and/or Enterprise environment – understanding the complicity of multiple stakeholders and how to effectively manage change
- Excellent communication and presentation skills are paramount alongside a willingness to effectively delegate work
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity standards and frameworks e.g. ISO27001, NIST, CIS, OWASP, SOC2
