Senior Pricing Analyst
The Senior Pricing Analyst will support with the core pricing of our Travel Insurance product, with a primary focus on enhancing our specialisation in medical risk and retail pricing. The role offers a superb opportunity work collaboratively with our technical claims and specialist medical teams, creating a deep understanding of our customer profile and the impact of their pre-existing medical conditions in the context of pricing.
The role is a senior, highly visible position with deliveries supporting strategic decision for the product whilst also acting as mentor and guide to others across the team.
Main Duties:
- Specialised focus on exploring new opportunities to price and create a competitive advantage within the pre-existing medical risk and retail insurance market.
- Conduct advanced and complex data analysis on large datasets, using technical skills to uncover trends, patterns and opportunities.
- Analysis and deep dives of large losses, feeding back insights to the wider department and suggest opportunities to improve performance in these areas.
- Supporting as a senior figure within a team of Pricing Analysts to maintain the medical rating structure for Admiral Travel.
- Taking responsibility for the quality and direction of the complex numerical work you are involved in whilst working towards supporting improved sales and loss ratio.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior colleagues, sharing expertise in advanced analytical tools and techniques to support the team growth.
- Communicating results and ideas to departmental decision-makers and line manager.
- Partner closely with stakeholders across the department, leveraging their specialised knowledge to develop more incisive and accurate rating variables.
- Liaising with peers in Motor, Household and Pet Pricing departments for collaboration and cross-product learning.
- Constant monitoring of the external environment and collaboration with the pricing governance team to stay ahead of changing consumer trends and compliance requirements to ensure our Pricing is constantly improved.
Qualifications:
- A degree, 2:1 (or equivalent) or above in a STEM or strong numeric discipline.
Experience Required:
- Strong knowledge of data and/or insurance processes.
- Experience in SQL, BigQuery, SAS, or other relevant programming languages
- Hunger for knowledge and desire for problem solving.
- Ability to analyse data and provide strategic insight.
- Strong organisational skills to help manage workloads and prioritise tasks from a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience with motivating and supporting others to deliver on their objectives and improve skills and knowledge.
- Good communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with presenting information and communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Pro-active & collaborative in approach to work.
- Ability to work independently as well as able to feed into wider teamwork.
- Escalate concerns and challenges clearly.
- Highly motivated and ability to work off your own initiative.
- Demonstrable ability to combine analytical thinking based on numbers, together with common sense and imagination.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and priorities.
Interview Process:
There will be a test as well as a 2 stage interview via Teams.
