We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer based in our London or Billund office and be part of our Recommender Services product team. You will be responsible for designing and building scalable and robust data pipelines and harden and scale machine learning models and algorithms in a Data Science / Engineering product team, responsible for delivering product and content recommendation services to our LEGO.com e-commerce and experience channels.

Core Responsibilities

You will lead the design, integration architecture, and implementation of recommender models and pipelines. Furthermore you will build and automate robust and scalable data ETL and ML model management pipelines as well as data APIs to integrate with downstream consumers. And you will serve as the main point of contact for Data Scientists and Data Analysts and assist to adopt a modern, CI/CD driven software development process. As our Senior Engineer, you are an inspiration for junior colleagues and actively help them to grow as software engineers e.g., through workshops and code reviews and you enjoy actively contribute to data (science) engineering principles on competency team level together with other Senior and Lead Engineers.

Our Data Science Products (DSP) organisation is the home of 50+ data science and engineering colleagues, distributed across our Denmark and UK offices. This team focuses on incubating, developing, and rolling out a broad portfolio of data science, AI and ML products across many different business areas and drive data engineering and architecture excellence.

Do you have what it takes?

Our ideal candidate comes from computer science or other relevant industry experience in software engineering. You might have few years of experience in building data pipelines using modern data processing tools and frameworks and you have a background in building and deploying solutions on AWS or other cloud computing platforms! In addition, you are:

  • Proficient in data integration techniques, ETL processes and data pipeline architectures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solver with the ability to identify and resolve complex data-related issues.
  • Skilled in software development such as Python and Java/Scala.
  • Experienced in designing and deploying complex application architectures using AWS cloud-native components.
  • Familiar with data security practices.
  • Willing to travel about two weeks per year (3-4 trips).

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience working with recommender models.
  • Experience / interest in working with the Rust programming language.
