We’re looking for a talented individual to join our Data Scientists and Engineers. People who are innovative problem solvers, are comfortable working both independently and within a team and willing to take on a high level of ownership.

This role is based in Boots’ support office in Nottingham and sits within the Data Science and Analytics team. The role is primarily responsible for maintaining and developing data products used by our CRM and loyalty teams.

About the opportunity

Working within the Data Science and Analytics team, you will lead on Personalisation. You will partner the Boots Loyalty teams, understand their requirements and provide thought leadership about what can be achieved through data science. You will work with senior stakeholders to shape the development roadmap, taking a leading role in data science development, testing and productionisation.

The Senior Data Scientist will report into the Head of Data Science within Data Science and Analytics which sits within IT and Advanced Analytics.

You will:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
  • Design, develop, and implement advanced data products and models to support CRM initiatives.
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of data products.

About you

We are looking for someone with strong technical experience in applying advanced analytics. You will be a curious individual who is motivated by continuous improvement. You will take a rigorous hypothesis led approach continuously improve the data products used by Loyalty and CRM to improve workflows and tooling within the teams and drive engagement with our customers and patients.

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience understanding and interpreting business questions and using available data, quantitative modeling and statistical techniques to develop practical solutions.
  • Experience using python to develop machine learning models with analytical programming languages (e.g. Python, R) or other machine learning, statistical or mathematical software.
  • Proficiency in using SQL (experience using Spark/PySpark desirable)
  • Strong communication and data presentation skills; the ability to build convincing recommendations and communicate these effectively to a non-technical audience
  • The ability to work with others as part of an agile team focused on delivering a business goal
  • Strong attention to detail, including a commitment to data protection and the ethical use of data
  • Interest in continuous development.
  • Able to own your development and invest time in developing less experienced team members
