As the Senior Manager of Data Science at Asda, you will play a critical role in driving our data strategy and maximising the value of our vast data resources. You will lead a team of data scientists and analysts to develop and deploy data-driven solutions that will impact Asda’s operations, customer experience, and overall business success.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the data science team and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritise business opportunities that can be enabled or enhanced with data-driven approaches.
- Design, build, and deploy advanced statistical and machine learning models to build and enhance products from business forecasting to space & inventory optimisation.
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify and define key performance indicators which can measure the impact of data science products and inform further enhancements.
- Leverage statistical techniques to analyse large, complex datasets and provide actionable insights to inform decision-making and strategy.
- Present product roadmaps, KPI impacts and insight to various stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, including senior leadership.
- Develop and maintain consistent technical standards as well as a robust approach to product lifecycle management including code reviews and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage and mentor a team of data scientists to foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and new technologies to ensure Asda is at the forefront of data innovation.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners and vendors to access new data sources, technology features and stay informed on the latest trends and techniques in data science.
Experience:
- 8 years of experience in data science, with a track record of building and deploying advanced solutions and delivering insights that drive business value.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team of data scientists and analysts.
- Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms, data mining techniques, and statistical modelling using Python.
- Experience with big data technologies, such as Azure Databricks and Pyspark.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Passionate about data and its potential to transform business operations and the customer experience.
- Experience in retail or consumer goods industry preferred.
