The salary is broken down as £56,911 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £69,342 plus a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT)
DDaT’s mission is to provide the Met with information (and specifically data), communications and technology to help frontline officers and Met staff do their jobs more efficiently, in order to deliver the New Met for London plan. In other words, DDaT is about “passionately delivering trusted technology for precise data driven policing”.
As well as keeping up to speed with developments in technology and making recommendations for new equipment and systems that will help modernise policing, DDaT also comprises the Data Office which:
- Owns and drives the data compliance and analytics agenda.
- Brings together the accountabilities that are currently dispersed across the Met business areas.
- Consolidates and further develops existing Met data and insight services.
- Enables data sharing and collaboration to serve the public and external partners.

Job Purpose
A permanent opportunity has arisen in the DDaT Business Operations team (DDaT Bus Ops). DDaT Bus Ops provides the business services necessary to run an efficient, effective, and cohesive Business Group, enabling DDaT to deliver its mission in a coordinated way.
The Senior Business Manager leads the team responsible for business planning, policy, risk, and audit, as shown below. Recently these areas have grown significantly in terms of responsibility across DDaT, and thus the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in designing new business processes and embedding new practices within the wider Business Group, liaising with key stakeholders.
Key Role Responsibilities
The role holder will drive and lead a team to achieve success in the following areas of work:
DDaT Business Planning includes high level finance tracking in line with DDaT objectives.
- Create a DDaT business plan from multiple sources with clear, trackable milestones and named owners.
- Incorporate recommendations from external bodies into the business plan where appropriate to ensure improvements and audit recommendations are completed.
- Track the DDaT Business Plan and provide timely information on progress to enable the SLT to make decisions about prioritisation of resources, budget, and future ambition.
- Understand and capture corporate memory of benefits realised.
DDaT Policy Management
- Create simple and user-friendly guidance across the breadth of expertise in DDaT, working in collaboration with subject matter experts, for use by officers and staff across the MPS.
- Consolidate and track policies across DDaT.
- Design and implement a governance cycle to ensure timely policy refresh.
- Centralise and standardise policy storage across DDaT.
DDaT Risk and Audit management
- Provide guidance, support and best practice relating to effective risk and issue management within DDaT.
- Own the DDaT Business Group level risk and issue register and provide timely, accurate information on risk to enable SLT members to make well informed decisions.
- Co-ordinate across DDaT to collate risk updates.
- Act as the SPOC for escalating risk to Information Management Group (IMG) and Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee (ARAC), ensuring corporate oversight of an appropriate level of risk relating to Digital, Data and Technology.
DDaT Governance & Strategy
- Define and co-ordinate the decision-making mechanisms within DDaT.
- Align DDaT Business Plan with corporate strategy.
- Co-ordinate responses to corporate strategy.

Vetting Clearance Level
For this role the Vetting Clearance is Force Clearance Level, Recruitment Vetting (RV), and National Security Vetting (NSV) Level, Counter Terrorism Check (CTC).

Essential Criteria:
The below list is non-exhaustive, and we expect candidates to have both high levels of generic management skills as well as a sound working knowledge of at least one of the specialist areas shown in bold below (audit, risk, business planning, policy):
- A good working knowledge and experience of operating processes required for audit action tracking, risk management, business planning and policy, preferably within a policing/ law enforcement context.
- The confidence to challenge current practices and develop new ideas and solutions - ensuring all activities can be delivered with maximum benefit and are aligned to organisational and business group strategy.
- The role holder must be confident to engage with DDaT senior leaders and extended SLT to embed new processes and shape senior decision making.
- Experience of communicating project plans, milestones, and activities clearly.
- Experience of delivering through others by setting clear goals and targets, monitoring progress, and holding people to account.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external to the organisation) to ensure the work of your team meets their needs, and to be able to raise challenges in a constructive and timely manner.
- Experience of working to tight deadlines within a fast-paced changing environment.
- Clarity of written and verbal communication; engaging and simple in style.
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous experience of managing budgets is desirable.
