You and your Team:

The Data and Analytics team operates as a centre of excellence providing a consolidated and specialist analytics capability to the Bank, focusing on customer experiences and outcomes.

Data and Analytics is responsible for providing business insights that drive better customer decisions and commercial results, model development, statistical analysis, data innovation, and credit bureau expertise within Vanquis Bank. Data and Analytics collaborates across the Provident Financial Group to share best practises across the shared services they offer.

Reporting directly to Manager in Data and Analytics (Ops & Digital), a Senior Analyst is an important role in the team, responsible for:

  • Following established guidelines and identifying and resolving problems. Using independence of thought whilst referring more complex problems to a Lead Analyst or Manager.
  • Providing analysis and making recommendations that help inform the running of day to day operational management.
  • Contributing to workflow or process changes and redesign, forming a strong understanding of a specific product or process.
  • Devising and delivering complex analytical/data driven projects.
  • Investigating data, finding trends, forecasting performance, and providing insightful recommendations.
  • Supporting the Lead Analyst with delegated responsibilities whilst on leave.
  • Presenting in monthly data and analytical forums to showcase interesting pieces of analysis.
  • Analysing data and providing insights and recommendations that drive better customer decisions and commercial results.

 

In your day-to-day role, as a Senior Insight Analyst you will:

  • Responsible for following established guidelines and identifying and resolving problems using independence of thought.
  • Analyse and make recommendations that help inform the development of policy, scorecards, and strategies.
  • Investigate data, find trends, forecast performance, and provide insightful recommendations.
  • Provide insight/set expectations through targeted analysis, forecasting, and development of regular MI.
  • Accountable (solely or with others) for regular reporting or process administration as owner.
  • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and contribute to workflow/process change redesign, forming a good understanding of the specific product or process.
  • Support the development of analysts within the wider team.
  • Peer-review analysis of other team members.
  • Understand customer impact of role.
  • Adhere to First Line Controls and ensure they embedded in your daily tasks.

 

What you will bring to the team:

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in personal/retail financial services
  • Proficient in SAS/SQL with practical experience in a commercial environment.
  • Database extraction and reporting experience.
  • Knowledge of Finance terminology and Banking P&L
  • Clear, logical, and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy focused.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Practical knowledge of coding/programming.
  • Competent in all standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Awareness of relevant financial services legislation and regulation.
  • Good regulatory knowledge and awareness, including business implications.
  • Good risk management including identifying risks or detriment that could impact our customers, and appropriately raising these within department.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial services legislation and regulation.
  • Knowledge of data compliance regulations and principles, e.g. GDPR, POR, PRAAD.
  • Experience of creating customer and commercial insights from source data, utilizing visualisation tools to best present these insights.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and able to demonstrate proficiency with formulae & VB Macros

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Credit Decisioning systems (e.g. FICO Originations Manager, Experian Power Curve, Transact, Triad/Blaze).
  • Understanding of customer journeys and decision waterfalls.
  • Understanding of the mechanics of a credit card with respect to payments and usage of the product.
  • Experience of collections and strategy optimisation through business rules engine.
  • Knowledge of third-party affiliates and aggregators (ClearScore, MoneySuperMarket, HD).
  • Process improvement and streamlining experience.
  • Knowledge of Credit Risk with respect to Credit Cards or Loans.
  • Knowledge of Contact Centre Operations and Collections Processes.
  • Knowledge of Customer Journey and Customer Engagement.
  • Knowledge of Credit Reference Agency data, scores and characteristics.
