Principal Data Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity for an experience data engineer to join our team as Principle Data Engineer. Based out of Nottingham in our International Data Office, you will be responsible development and adoption of our analytics data engineering principles and patterns throughout the organisation

About the role
Within the Data Office we’re embarking on a radical modernisation of how we design, build and maintain our data products. As Principle Data Engineer you will collaborate with experts within our teams and partners to develop data engineering patterns and principles. You’ll ensure that our principles and vision is consistently applied throughout our organisation. Using your data engineering expertise, you’ll coach and support your peers to improve the value and effectiveness of our data. You’ll help design and build our data warehouse, our ML pipelines and AI products.
We offer our Support Office team members a flexible, hybrid working approach based upon empowerment, accountability, care and trust which includes a balanced mix of remote and office-based working - this will be discussed with you as part of the application process.
What you’ll need to have
• Significant ‘hands on’ experience of data engineering within an analytics and/or data science environment.
• Expert knowledge of one or more data languages including SQL, Python and Spark.
• Experience of coaching and developing your peer’s knowledge and understanding of modern data engineering principles and practices.
• Experience of developing large scale data engineering solutions in cloud technologies (preferably Microsoft Azure)
It would be great if you also have
• Experience of data warehousing techniques such as Kimball dimensional modelling.
• Experience of developing ML and AI solutions
• Experience of line management
• Knowledge of agile processes such as Scrum
