Your new role at NewDay
We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer looking for a fresh challenge working with cutting edge technology in an agile environment. The Platform Engineer is responsible for working with Product, Data Engineering, Architecture/Design, Security and Scrum Masters to design, build and manage automated software deployment solutions and data environments in AWS.
They will use best-practice continuous integration and continuous deployment methodologies to ensure that the build and deployment pipelines are fast, robust, and secure. They will champion good code quality and secure DevOps practices, and create a world class AWS Ops team, with fully automated deployment across multiple clients.
0-12 months you'll deliver
- Designing, building, and deploying secure infrastructure, in a repeatable methodology, ensuring all steps in these processes are automated and observable - IaC (Terraform)
- Owning the network connectivity between AWS VPC accounts and enterprise network and infrastructure, including AWS firewall rules and configuration
- Delivering computational environments that meet the needs of the developers and multiple user personas
- Owning and supporting user facing query product deployment and support (such as Snowflake)
- Working with AWS Security engineers to put security review at the heart of all deployments
What you’ll bring
We need knowledge, experience + expertise in:
- Strong knowledge of computer networks including cloud networks, corporate networks (Firewalls, Proxies) and VPCs
- AWS networks (VPC, VPN, Direct Connect, Route 53, Auto scaling, CloudWatch, GuardDuty, Network Firewall)
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration & Deployment methodologies
- Experienced Terraform developer
- Knowledge of virtualisation/containerisation
- EKS/Kubernetes experience
- Working knowledge of streaming platforms (Kafka, Confluent) and MPP database systems (Snowflake)
And would love you to know or learn:
- Python functional development experience
- Working knowledge Airflow or Astronomer
- Working experience with NewRelic
