Operations lead – Digital, Data and Technology

Salary: The starting salary is £45,073, which includes allowances totalling £2,841. The salary is broken down as £42,232 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £50,385. There is also a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000
Location: Bow, Hendon, New Scotland Yard and Sidcup. Blended working with an expectation of two days minimum in the office per week
The Commissioner and management board have determined that the Met will be a data driven organisation. This means treating our data in the same way we treat our people, methods and technology, as a strategic asset.
The data office is the single place of accountability across the Met that:
- owns and drives the data compliance and analytics agenda
- brings together the accountabilities that are currently dispersed across the Met business areas
- consolidates and further develops existing Met data and insight services
- enables data sharing and collaboration to serve the public and external partners
Job purpose
To establish and maintain a successful Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) operations model. This area has had significant growth in terms of responsibility and thus requires the resource to plan, manage and drive activity across all of our operations in DDaT.
Number of vacancies
Important to note that this current vacancy is for two DDaT operations leads. Our current requirement means that the two successful candidates would begin and be initially be working and leading in the areas of:
- policy - one vacancy
- business planning - one vacancy
Therefore, skills relating to these areas are required.
Key role responsibilities
Our DDaT Operations model requires strong and well-established processes, and you will be critical to help establish these where there is a business need and to manage them once they are in place. This includes risk management, budget and financial management, policy, workforce planning, resource planning, tasking and coordination, professional standards, business continuity planning, audit tracking, and supporting business planning in line with our pending Digital and Data strategy.
You will be required to:
- be confident in engaging with senior and the extended senior leadership team (SLT) to embed successful processes for an established Business Operations model in various areas as outlined above
- feel confident in taking part in a review of our current ‘as is’ model, identifying areas for improvement and make recommendations for change
- work closely with the senior DDaT operations lead to support the necessary business change
- be required to establish a successful tasking and coordination meeting, through which project leads are held accountable and delivery of data office projects are managed
- help establish the process of how we manage our internal performance and track progress against milestones
- feel confident in communicating effectively with wider DDaT as to any changes being made
