Are you a passionate technical engineering leader with a proven track record of enabling high performing engineering teams? We’re looking for a Lead Data Engineer, who will be a vital member of our diverse data function, where you'll not only technically lead team deliveries, but also support initiatives across the broader organisation. This role is perfect for those with a collaborative spirit and a passion for building professional networks.

In this role, you will:
- Coach and mentor engineers to maximise their potential, promote career growth and enable innovative thinking.
- Foster a DevOps culture of “you build it, you run it, you own it”, promoting autonomy and ownership across the engineering organisation.
- Work with Product Managers to create, maintain and execute a roadmap for building new data products that deliver value to both colleagues & customers.
- Evolve our existing estate to align it with current standards and practices.
- Establish and maintain best practices for data ingestion, processing, and storage, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Work with structured, semi-structured and structured data with varying latencies, from batch through to real-time.
- Contribute to the Lead Engineering Community to define and embed standards, practices and principles into everything we and our teams do.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance data engineering capabilities.
- Play a key role in hiring and onboarding new team members, contributing to the growth and development of the department.
Let's find out about you
- Have a background in building and maintaining high quality, secure software.
- Are experienced in operating scalable and performant applications in production.
- Have a good understanding of Microsoft Azure tooling, preferably with hands-on experience.
- Have worked with data platform such as Databricks.
- Have extensive experience with Python and, preferably, PySpark.
- Experience in working with Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders.
- Have experience leading and mentoring Data Engineers.
- You will be proactive, resilient with strong leadership skills and be an excellent team player.
