Then we have a match! This is an excellent opportunity for a Lead Data Engineer to inspire the engineering team and to work along both an expert product manager and digital product designer to focus on our data strategy for marketing digital products.
Core Responsibilities

  • Be the catalyst for Marketing data governance in collaboration with the Data Office and drive engineering decisions around legal, compliance, consent, taxonomy, ethical requirements etc.
  • Ensure cross functional alignment with engineering product teams outside of the Marketing domain to drive commonalities and remove or reduce dependencies.
  • Help establish the foundations of marketing data and governance for data product consumption across the marketing organisation.
  • Be responsible for a data section and take on the roadmap with your product manager to make sure we get useful insights on our NPS, Consumer Group Tracking, Brand Pulse, Brand Experience, Performance Marketing data and many others.

This role will sit in the Marketing & Channels Technology domain in our LEGO Digital department, whose responsibility covers a wide variety of digital products across marketing planning, activation, and evaluation. Your products will be critical enablers for the Marketing products we activate and the foundation for the future!

You will be working closely with the rest of the marketing organisation around products, experiences, and tools to engage with new and existing users to power their love for the LEGO brand.

The role reports to the Senior Director, Engineering Delivery.

The Lead Data Engineer will play a key role in developing foundational data infrastructure for Marketing Data Strategy.

  • Create a common data model around marketing data
  • Define, develop, and maintain data infrastructure to gather analytics from multiple data sources within our central data platform
  • Monitor and improve the quality and coverage of our marketing data
  • Coordinate with other engineers to create reliable, high-quality data products for use in web applications and services
  • Demonstrate data engineering standard processes, and guide others to follow them

To succeed in this role, you already have some of the following:

  • Significant experience with SQL.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, Luigi, Dagster).
  • Experience with ELT / ETL tools for moving and transforming data (e.g. dbt, Apache Spark).
  • Experience with data quality and reliability tools (e.g. Great Expectations, Soda).
  • Experience creating data products for use in web applications and services.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and share knowledge across the team.

Nice to have

  • Experience with some of our supporting data platform technologies: Databricks, Collibra.
  • Experience with data governance concepts around data management, ownership, and quality.
  • Experience deploying data infrastructure on AWS.
  • Experience working with analytics data, especially in marketing contexts.
