About the Role:
This is a Lead Data Engineer /Software Engineering Lead role where you will be responsible for overseeing and guiding a team of Software Engineer, Data Engineers and QAs specialising in Data Ingestion. In addition to writing code on complex systems and applications, this position provides direction on project plans, schedules, and methodologies. The role will be 25% hands on and 75% people management.
Responsibilities
- Writing and reviewing portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
- Working closely with other development team members to understand moderately complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.
- Mentoring and/or train entry-level software engineers as directed by department management.
- Managing and encourage new ideas from staff to foster improvements through innovations
- Serving as the initial point of escalation for software development issues within specific area of responsibility
Requirements
- Have experience of working with Databases for e.g. SQL Server, MYSQL, Hadoop, Oracle or any other RDBMS.
- Be able to partner and lead internal and external technology resources in solving complex business needs
- Be able to demonstrate proficiency with data manipulation language including optimization techniques.
- Be able to collaborate, support and drive team members to deliver on results, providing technical and professional guidance
- Be able to design and work with complex data models.
- Have experience working with with Data ingestion, but not limited to standard ETL techniques.
