JOB TITLE: Lead Data Analyst- Loans and Affordability Platform
LOCATION: Chester, Manchester or London
Hours: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in one of our office hubs mentioned above

This high-profile role sits within Consumer Lending specifically focusing on Loans and Affordability products and is a fantastic opportunity to join a data passionate, customer focused and product driven team. Within the Consumer Lending division, the Loans business is the leader in the UK for personal loans.
The Loans Platform is core to delivering business and technology strategy through excellent product, engineering and data capabilities – creating experiences our customers love. We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Analyst to join our Loans Platform team. This role is pivotal in driving data-driven decision making and uncovering actionable insights to enhance business performance.
As a Lead Data Analyst, you will shape the analytics roadmap, lead on data analysis to develop compelling stories. You will mentor the platform team through your expertise to foster a data-driven culture.

Key Accountabilities
Shape the Data Analytics Roadmap
- Identify customer problems into actionable analytics solutions.
- Identify data analytics initiatives that support business outcomes, and build roadmap for iterative delivery.
Data Acquisition and Transformation:
- Leverage SQL to extract and manipulate data from various sources, including loans pricing and management systems, customer databases, and external datasets.
- Identify and address data quality issues, applying data cleaning and standardisation techniques.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand data sources and implement efficient data collection processes.
Data Analysis and Modelling:
- Conduct statistical analysis using advanced techniques to assess loan performance, credit risk, and customer behaviour.
- Develop and maintain predictive models to support key business objectives, such as customer churn prediction, and loan pricing.
- Translate complex data findings into actionable insights for various wider team members, including business leaders, engineers, and product owners.
Data Visualisation and Communication:
- Create compelling data visualizations using tools like Tableau or Power BI to effectively communicate insights to non-technical audiences.
- Develop dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators and track progress towards strategic goals.
- Present and explain data findings clearly and concisely, tailoring communication to different audiences and their needs.
What you'll need:
- Proven ability as a Data Analyst or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Solid grasp of data management concepts and standard methodologies.
- Superb communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaborative and team-oriented work style, with the ability to build strong relationships across different teams.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the UK banking industry and loan products is a plus.
- Exposure to Big data and cloud platforms like GCP is preferable.
- Prior team management or roadmap development experience is a plus.
