Senior Analyst, Insurance Risk

The role

As the Senior Analyst, Insurance Risk you will be assisting the Insurance Risk team to develop and implement an appropriate and effective assurance strategy, program and infrastructure ensuring adequate controls, procedures and processes are in place to enable the QBE Group of companies to comply with applicable laws and regulations and mean the highest insurance risk standards. You will also be involved in the preparation, placement, reporting and maintenance of QBE’s portfolio of external insurance protection.

How will I help?

A day in the role may look a bit like this;

• Assist in development and implementation of a 2nd line of defense Assurance Strategy (vision, roadmap, priorities) that aligns with the Risk Strategy, and which will enable the business to comply with applicable laws, regulations, codes, and standards relating to QBE's financial services licenses.
• Assist and support in placement of QBE’s corporate insurance programme, including working with our external insurance brokers and senior QBE stakeholders.
• Support the development and implementation of an effective education, training, and awareness program for assurance.
• Assist in selecting and maintaining appropriate risk identification and measurement methodologies.
• Monitor, advise and report on assurance work impacting the business and any requirements or actions to be implemented.
• Assist in embedding a compliant and customer focused culture across the organization. Provide value add to internal customers through strategic insights and pragmatic suggestions on maintaining an effective assurance framework
• Identify appropriate external regulatory and compliance frameworks and provide assurance methodologies as relevant to facilitate compliance by the business.

What do I need?

To be successful as a Senior Analyst, Insurance Risk you will have extensive experience within underwriting, reinsurance risk management or actuarial.

You will also have;

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to engage and influence all levels of business stakeholders.
• Excellent presentation skills and ability to learn business, process, and systems quickly.
• Intermediate knowledge of the financial services industry in Australia, preferably in relation to General Insurance (preferred).
