Head of Portfolio Optimisation

We have an exciting opportunity for a newly created Head of Portfolio Optimisation to join our QBE RE team in London. This role will play a crucial part in QBE RE’s growth ambitions by developing state of the art portfolio management tools as well as bringing insights to senior leaders to inform the portfolio strategy.
Your New Role:
- Determines the actuarial bases and principles of all actuarial or pricing investigations, analyses and costings.
- Ability to guide and complete complex data manipulation and statistical modelling using best practice techniques.
- Ability to influence and provide clear direction to business stakeholders on action to be taken to meet the business plan
- Build live portfolio to enable scenario planning, protections and capital strategies
- Drive strategic data and portfolio projects to improve understanding of portfolio dynamics and processes for profitable growth.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, actuarial and regulatory standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with key external and internal stakeholders to define and improve portfolio metrics
- Develop portfolio management tools and KPI to inform plan and portfolio strategies
- Investigate and understand the range of models and rating tools used in divisions to identify weaknesses and strengths.
About you:
- Prior experience leading teams and managing complex actuarial or pricing activities within the general insurance environment and product areas supported.
- Experience as a Pricing Actuary in the General (Re)Insurance sector and understanding of the business in which QBE operates.
- Demonstrable experience setting and delivering data and pricing strategies.
- Demonstrable experience in developing a business strategy to drive commercial outcomes.
- Proven record of working with Underwriters to implement new concepts and drive change.
- Proven experience in delivering pricing/portfolio tools and environments to satisfy market-facing Underwriters' needs.
- Proven record of developing and embedding leading-edge pricing techniques, ensuring execution of improvements that provide a material advantage.
- Proven experience interacting at a senior level.
- Relevant Actuary society certification, such as Fellow-Casualty Actuary Society (FCAS) or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA).
