Head of Platforms
The Opportunity
QBE Europe is looking to recruit a Head of Platforms to join a well-established and successful Transformation and Technology team in our London office. As the Head of Platforms, you will be responsible for end-to-end accountability for delivery of IT Solutions within the portfolio of each of the relevant Business Units. The primary focus of this role is to drive strategic alignment to the right technical outcome ensuring a well-managed and secure estate.
The role includes responsibility for build, supply and development to agreed time, cost and quality by partnering with Head of Change and third-party providers ensuring quality assurance alongside managing resource allocation and budget responsibility. The scope of this role includes relationship management accountability for third-party providers, and to ensure that all delivery is aligned to enterprise technology and QBE delivery standards. The role will drive technical efficiencies and continuous improvement to ensure a scalable run model.
Your new role
- You will be responsible for maintaining the strategic view of business objectives and their needs to align to end to end delivery of IT Solutions through constant engagement with key stakeholders.
- Have accountability for end-to-end Run, Supply and Development activity, leveraging the skills of project management and third party resources to deliver a scalable Platforms service and development roadmap for the Business Units.
- Establish and maintain relationships with our third-party providers, be responsible for contracts reviews alongside procurement and have oversight of supplier resource.
- You will oversee design, build and test activity with a view to minimising technical debt, leveraging use of suitable tools and processes driving scalability across the estate and the team.
- Drive and foster a culture of continuous improvement, motivation, collaboration, empowerment and entrepreneurialism within the train and Business Unit.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with Business Unit leads, Transformation and Technology teams and third parties to champion and influence the adoption of technical excellence.

- Have strong presentation to influence key stakeholders to adopt innovative ways of working and new technologies.
- Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs strategically.
- Have an innovative approach to problem solving.
- Excellent application and technology understanding with the ability to lead, drive improvements and meet business deadlines.
- Bring your proven experience of cultural and behavioural leadership of cross-functional and third-party teams.
