Who Are We?
Advancing Analytics are a market leader in delivering bleeding edge analytical solutions for customers all over the world. To thrive in today's market, businesses need to implement AI built on a solid, reliable Data Platform, and we are looking for you to help us grow relationships with customers, delivering projects to help them achieve their goals.
Who are we looking for?
A dedicated, entrepreneurial, ambitious, and self-motived Head of Data Science with experience thriving in technology professional services. This person will drive the data science practice forward, setting the direction and approach to Data Science & Machine Learning in AA.
What are the primary responsibilities for the role?
This is a new role for Advancing Analytics and honestly, we are not too sure what an average day looks like. The right candidate will be taking control, setting direction and defining the right path for the practice. The Head of Data Science would be responsible for:
• Customer Success: Accountability and responsibility for the delivery of well-structured and high impact data projects for clients. The role will work with clients to define project value and success, be the primary exec sponsor throughout delivery, and measure the success of projects post-implementation.
• Project sourcing and multi-project management: Developing Advancing Analytics’ market positioning and commercial propositions for our Data Science practice. Working with the Commercial team to identify opportunities, engage potential
clients and set up new projects. This role will initially have a strong client focus but grow to more client oversight as you build your team.
• People: Supporting the development of Advancing Analytics internal workflows and operations, as well as the development of the team, working with our people team to attract talent, on-board new consultants, plan training, mentoring and line management. The role will feed heavily into the resourcing plan as we gain sight of upcoming projects.
• Partner Alliances: Building relationships with technical experts and product managers within our partner alliances, ensuring we collaborate on future direction and are strategically positioned for the technical roadmap going forward.
• Marketing: Defining Advancing Analytics’ market position to improve both sales and partner alliances/offerings.
• Delivery: Owning the project delivery standards and processes for the practice, from initial estimation, backlog management, risk logging and implementation reviews.
• Technical: Working with the CTO to define tech direction and practice offerings. Managing practice technical capabilities, identifying skills gaps and driving upskill initiatives. Managing the R&D direction of the practice. Defining the requirements for delivery accelerators and taking responsibility for their delivery.
• Profit & Loss: Working with the Finance department to define and drive project profitability results.
• Company Leadership: Taking part in the leadership team of the company, defining, and owning initiatives to help the company grow and meet its strategic goals.
The role will receive deep support from the Directors, and key business functions around commercial positioning, problem and programme structuring, knowledge sharing and quality assurance (to ensure continued high-quality execution to all our clients).
What will you do on an average day?
• Meeting clients: Both potential and established, to strengthen our relationships.
• Project and team management: Providing coaching and support for the Data Science project teams. This will cover multiple ongoing projects in parallel.
• Product management: Managing the ideation, planning, execution, and delivery of new consulting products & offerings.
• Senior stakeholder engagement: Managing the client and senior team throughout early-stage engagement and delivery, across multiple projects.
• Information architecture and design: Presenting quantitative and qualitative information in a manner that is easy to understand and that is structured towards providing pertinent useful insights to an organisation.
• Data architecture, design and integration: Designing the data pipeline, having a good oversight of the different data platform solutions and how they fit together via data management.
• Data Science & Machine Learning architecture: Knowledge of specific tools, proprietary languages, features, and best practices.
• Project sourcing: Engaging in presales conversations, account planning.
• Market positioning and commercial propositions: Developing and communicating our position and approach to potential clients, partners and other third parties.
• Identifying and pursuing opportunities: Developing a pipeline of potential clients for project delivery and managing sales opportunities through early-stage discussion to include scoping, workshops, and proof of concepts.
• Project structuring: Defining the project delivery scopes, resourcing, fee proposals and managing the delivery against all elements.
• Working with the directors to define practical and scalable workflows for our operations, providing everything necessary to enable our team to be successful in delivery.
