Finance Apprentice
We are currently looking for an Finance Apprentice to be based in Manchester on a 24 month fixed term contract, reporting into the Head of Finance Operations.
As a Finance Apprentice at Munich Re, you will embark on a comprehensive learning journey, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of finance. This apprenticeship is designed to provide exposure to a wide range of financial functions, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, credit control, financial reporting including - analysis, reconciliation, analysis. You will work closely with experienced professionals who are dedicated to mentoring and guiding you throughout your apprenticeship.
Responsibilities:
- Complete the upload of bank statement & clearing of bank open items in the ledger
- To be proficient and accurate in the processing and recording of all payments and receipts
- Deal with queries and resolve any issues, discrepancies
- Preparation of journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet controls and audit files.
- Bank account management, reviewing funding requirements, completing funding and investment transactions
- Assist in the annual audit by providing supporting documents.
- Produce appropriate KPI reporting
- Chase, resolve, negotiate and reconcile transactions and balances.
- Working with Underwriters and Brokers to ensure queries and errors can be resolved quickly.
- Preparation of the month-end financial close processes including journals, reconciliation and analysis
- Participate in wider projects (e.g. Set-up of a new business stream) including testing
- Engaging with multiple stakeholders from different areas of the business
Knowledge and Skills
- Attention to detail, accuracy is important

- Energetic and curious.
- Comfortable multi-tasking and working as part of a team,
- Willing to learn new skills
- Organised, good time management to ensure deadlines are met
