The Opportunity
QBE Europe is looking to recruit a Enterprise Architect to join a well-established and growing Enterprise Architect team. In this position you will be Responsible for providing technology direction to a range of stakeholders including suppliers, IT and QBE business through strategies, roadmaps, standards, and project options. Provide support to the delivery of global enterprise programs. Previous experience in Finance Domain desirable.
Your New Role
- Be a strategic advisor for design of major technology transformation initiatives across Business Transformation Programmes, Cloud, Data, Cyber, Security, Software and Infrastructure.
- Contribute to thinking and drive the debate with key business stakeholders and the technology community.
- Conduct technology assurance and governance. Ensure aligned to architecture policy and practices.
- Maximize the alignment & leverage reuse of technology, establish common solutions & optimize skills across QBE to achieve cost efficiencies.
- Deliver or contribute to strategy, principles, policies and roadmaps for assigned domains in line with agreed timelines and QBE priorities.
- Use standardized tools and approach to documenting enterprise architecture to ensure consistency across the team.
- Actively promote and embed the architecture ways of working and due governance.
- Conduct research of emerging architecture and technology trends.
- Provide support during technology decision making activities.
- Deliver foundational enterprise solution architectures via strategic projects.
- Ensure that Solution Architects have a good understanding of the strategic direction relating to the projects on which they are working.
- Deliver foundational enterprise solution architectures via strategic projects.
- Shape the early stages of projects to produce the project’s architecture vision, ensuring it is appropriately aligned with strategic direction.
- Proactively challenge business requirements and solution architectures where needed and negotiate the best possible outcome for QBE considering both short- and long-term needs.
About You
- Previous experience as a solution architecture or enterprise architect
- In-depth knowledge of large-scale financial data architecture programs including increasing the maturity of the architecture function
- Understanding of finance integration with other processes and components
- Experience of insurance and reinsurance business, with finance aspects being a particular advantage
- Experience of Management Information and Enterprise Information Integration within a corporate environment.
- Understand the elements of data architecture and what good information flows would look like across the business
- Proven ability to deliver architecture in a large-scale fast-moving dynamic environment
- Proven experience of problem analysis and design techniques
- Ability to identify and quantify key areas of risk or complexity
- A basic understanding of the inter-operation of hardware, network and software components necessary for the delivery of complete, complex systems
- Experience of working with third party service supplier / outsource providers
- Analysis and evaluation skills
- Ability to prioritise and organise work to achieve deadlines
- Ability to manage impacts of parallel architecture programs to ensure that any risks are minimized.
- Good documentation skills – both at a detailed and summary level
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with an appreciation for an ability to communicate with and respond to the needs of diverse audiences
