Engineer – Data Engineering
Job Description
Core Responsibilities:
The overall expectation for this position is for an engineer to be consistently contributing to the codebase, deepening knowledge in their chosen area and taking ownership for the things they do. Works within well-established practices and clearly defined scope of work.
- Owns features and technical tasks through to production and monitors their success.
- Assess code and refactors to maintain codebase health, regularly chip in to code reviews for the squad to give feedback and ask questions, consistently demonstrates upholding and sharing of team code review guidelines.
- Questions requirements and analyses wider impact of tasks, breaks down tasks into logical interactive steps and clarifies unknowns, follows changes through to production independently.
- Suggests solutions to mitigate impact of changes made to systems and development experience.
- Regularly gives to engineering documentation, capture knowledge and update documentation.
- Helps to unblock others on moderate complex issues, shares knowledge around the system and technologies to others, actively onboard new team members.
- Proposes new technologies and tools for the team to explore, showcases technical concepts to the wider teams.
Do you have what it takes?
- Good communication and presentation skills, able to communicate clearly and explain technical solutions to others.
- A quick learner and standout teammate.
- Proven understanding with 2+ years experience of data engineering, analytics/insights technologies (e.g. Python, SQL, ETL/ELT, PowerBI, Tableau, Apache Spark, Streaming/Apache Kafka, CI/CD, etc.).
- Clear understanding of sophisticated version control commands and concepts.
- Hands-on experience of cloud platform (e.g. AWS, Azure).
- Experience in agile development team(s) and having knowledges of Agile methodologies.
- Proven experience of retail, FMCG is preferred.
- Oversea study, working experience or MNC working experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of data privacy, security, and China data regulation & laws is a plus.
