Job description

Are you ready to shape the future of the MOD’s digital services?  These roles present a unique opportunity to leverage your digital expertise and significantly impact the MOD's mission-critical operations.

We are looking for a Service Owner to bridge the gap between technical delivery and business outcomes, ensuring services meet user needs while delivering value for money.  This requires strategic vision combined with practical delivery skills, as you'll be responsible for setting the direction for your service and working across Defence Digital’s boundaries to implement it.

As a Service Owner, you will have the exciting opportunity to:

  • Manage the MODNet Official Live Service and Virtual Desktop end-to-end, ensuring the ongoing successful operation of these services.
  • Ensure the quality assurance of services, governance, and leadership in decision-making for device, asset, and software management.
  • Create and communicate a compelling service vision, and road map, ensuring the right balance of meeting business, and user objectives, and managing technical risk.
  • Provide leadership and collaboration for continuous improvement through a service road map that prioritises user experience and empowerment, digital maturity of the workplace, and increased automation.
  • Balance the needs of competing stakeholders, ensuring that services are valuable and effective for the organisation.

Person specification

We are looking for an ambitious, motivated, and confident leader with a strong customer-centric approach. You will be capable of understanding and anticipating customer needs and issues and articulating them clearly and concisely to drive effective solutions. Passionate about maintaining high standards, you’ll ensure quality is always a priority by guiding teams to adopt and implement best practices.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a digital work environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering cutting-edge technology-based solutions and services including Cloud Services.
  • Demonstrable experience working within a technology team, industry, and with end users to create an end-to-end service road map on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to identify key stakeholders, understand their needs and expectations, and effectively manage these relationships to positively impact service delivery.

  • The post does not offer relocation expenses.
  • External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
