N Brown – who we are and why work for us?

At N Brown, we’re committed to building a diverse workforce and creating an inclusive environment that values equality for all. Our vision is that by ‘championing inclusion, we’ll become the most loved and trusted fashion retailer’. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are, therefore, at the heart of our culture.

We’re a forward-thinking digital retailer with a financial services proposition to be proud of. We’re customer-obsessed, serving them through three core brands: JD Williams, Simply Be, and Jacamo. We’re experienced, with over 160 years of trading under our belt. We’re inclusive, as we believe in fashion without boundaries; and we’re sustainable, striving to make as little impact on the planet as possible.

The role

We are already a strongly data led business with a purpose to ensure our customers look and feel amazing. We’re now embarking on one of the most exciting data transformation journeys in the industry and looking for Data Visualization Lead to join our Group Data team.

As one of the most senior members of our central Data Visualisation team, you will drive the delivery of actionable intelligence to N Brown’s decision makers. You will be a strategic thinker who places the company and our customers at the heart of technical problem-solving.

Data at N Brown has recently been elevated to one of the 5 strategic pillars, with a mission to establish data as an asset to win. The Group Data function, led by the Director of Data reporting to the CEO, has been established to define and implement the enterprise data vision and strategy.

What’s in it for you?

  • Hybrid working and flexible start times
  • 24 days holiday (+ 8 bank holidays) with the option to buy an additional 10 days
  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Enhanced maternity and adoption leave
  • Company pension with up to 8% N Brown contribution
  • Mental Health support both internally and externally, including access to our wellbeing champions and counselling services
  • A range of financial wellbeing support
  • Colleague discount across all N Brown brands
  • Onsite café with subsidised rates and local restaurant discounts!
  • Life Assurance and Private Medical Insurance
  • Paid volunteer time – all our colleagues can take a full day paid to volunteer for a charity of their choice

What will you do as a Data Visualization Lead at N Brown?

  • Lead engagements with stakeholders, helping them articulate business challenges and finding ways data can support their decisions
  • Deliver actionable insight that will impact the bottom line or reduce organisational risk using our strategic BI tool – Power BI
  • Reduce technical debt by ensuring our team delivers high quality work to agreed standards (that you will help shape!)
  • Develop the capability of our team by taking responsibility to mentor, share best practice and raise the skills of those around you

What skills and experience will you have?

  • Have demonstrable expertise delivering insight with Power BI to large audiences (strong Tableau or Qlik Sense experience will also be considered)
  • Be experienced applying UI/UX best practice to report development
  • Be comfortable reading & writing SQL to a good standard
  • Be comfortable using enterprise data sources e.g., BigQuery, Azure, Teradata
  • Experience in Microsoft Power BI
  • Experience in SQL
  • Experience in Google BigQuery

It would be advantageous if you also have:

  • Engagement with the wider data community
  • Some experience with Python or R
