Working within the data and analytics team you will work directly within our data science team to produce complex data science models to identify and deliver business value across a number of key business processes. We support all areas of the business ranging from space optimisation in stores to analysing reasons for poor product availability within our stores.
You will be part of a team within a diverse data function, as well as supporting activities across the wider organisation, requiring a strong team work ethic and a desire to develop working relationships. This role provides many opportunities to further develop your communication, technical and analytical skillsets and help support us in putting the customer first.
As Asda moves through its digital and data transformation, you'll be joining Asda at the right time. Leveraging data and analytics is a foundation to Asda's transformation strategy and you would be at the very heart of this!
For this specific role, we are on the hunt for a data scientist with their expertise and enthusiasm for crafting cutting-edge personalization solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a robust foundation in data science, with at least 1 years of professional experience, and a demonstrated proficiency in Python and SQL. Knowledge of PySpark, Databricks and Azure is highly desired, as these platforms form an integral part of our data infrastructure. This role is not just about analytics; it also involves a hands-on approach to productionising models and build components to support MLOps.
Your Role:
- Develop and refine algorithms for personalised user experiences across our platforms.
- Utilize Python, PySpark and SQL to manipulate data and build scalable models for personalisation.
- Employ Databricks for collaborative data exploration, manipulation, and visualisation.
- Collaborate closely with the engineering team to integrate personalization solutions into production.
- Engage in all stages of model development, from conception to deployment and monitoring.
- Analyze A/B testing results and other data to continuously improve the personalization algorithms.
- Communicate complex data-driven insights to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in data science and personalization.
- Support maintenance MLOps infrastructure, ensuring seamless model deployment and scalability.
About You:
- A minimum of 1 years of experience in a Data Scientist role, with a focus on personalization is a plus.
- Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency in SQL are required, knowledge and experience with PySpark is a plus.
- Familiarity with machine learning, statistical analysis, A/B testing, and predictive modeling techniques, especially models and algorithms can be used to do personalisation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, find insights from data and through experimentation, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
- A team player who is also capable of working independently when required.
- Proven track record of developing and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
- Experience working in personalisation solutions
- Experience with Databricks and Cloud platform (especially Azure)
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
