About our Team

You will lead a small team of 2-3 people, initially, and have ownership of a portfolio of Data Science work including generative-AI based insight tools to support our commercial teams and research and development for the next generation of Cirium Products.

 

About the Role

You will split your time between people leadership – providing coaching to and developing your team, and hands-on project work.

You will be directly responsible for the portfolio backlog for your team, working closely with key stakeholders to prioritise. You will have accountability for execution and delivery against your portfolio as well as driving best practices within your team.

 

Responsibilities

Managing 2-3 data scientists initially, supporting their development, setting objectives, assigning and overseeing projects, and driving a high performance culture

Owning a portfolio of work, collaborating closely with stakeholder. to prioritise across the portfolio. Working with ML Ops to ensure that projects are delivered into production and delivering value to the business

Driving best practices within your team, following repeatable, scalable patterns for development and delivery of projects

Working with Data Governance to ensure the models and analytics your team develops are understood and properly governed

Understanding the role your team plays in delivery of our business strategy. Working closely with other leaders within the Data Science team and the wider business to ensure strategic alignment

Hands-on development, research, and delivery of solutions into production

 

Requirements

Have experience in a Data Scientist role within a commercial setting. You will demonstrated track record of driving projects from inception to deployment. Have a good understanding of the Data Science Lifecycle and be adept at stakeholder and project management

Demonstrate technical skills in Python and Spark, with experience using AWS tooling and Databricks would be ideal

Show broad applied knowledge across standard machine learning techniques, with experience in building LLM-based applications a significant benefit

Demonstrate ability to think strategically, and prioritise and delegate work across several projects within your portfolio

Experience managing, developing and/or mentoring other Data Scientists. Our people are central to our success as a business, and you will need to be passionate about people leadership

Demonstrate commercial acumen, with a clear understanding of how to leverage Data Science and AI to drive business value. Experience working with Sales and Marketing teams is beneficial
