Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £80,600 and London £57,700 to £88,600 per annum (salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The Advanced Analytics and Data Science Units (AA&DSUs) are a diverse team of data scientists, AI strategists, engineers, change experts, designers and business analysts.

This role forms part of the Business Consulting & Pipeline (BC&P) team within AA&DSUs Transformation team. The BC&P team collaborates with the business to discover, scope and design solutions that meet user and business needs. The team also manages the departmental project pipeline to build out the backlog and prioritise resources based on strategic objectives and value.

What will you be doing?

  • Identifying data science opportunities, co-owning the front end of the project lifecycle, identifying and scoping project ideas.
  • Designing and delivering discovery workshops with stakeholders to understand pain points, processes, and identifying data science solutions.
  • Capturing and translating user pain points into functional and non-functional requirements, collaborating to generate an appropriate solution.
  • Supporting management in shaping the strategic direction of programmes of work, identifying key stakeholders, and recommending target areas of focus.
  • Managing and reporting on a pipeline of projects, including scoping with data scientists and prioritising highest value projects into delivery.
  • Sharing your business analyst skills with the wider department and continuously contributing to best practice approaches and assets.

Minimum

  • Experience as senior business analyst or similar roles (e.g. Consultant, Solution/Service design or Product Owner)
  • Experience in one of the following sectors: Data Science, Advanced Analytics, Tech/IT Consultancy, FinTech, Technology or Innovation
  • Experience delivering through the full project lifecycle using both waterfall and agile methodologies

Essential

  • Experience in analysing diverse information sources to identify appropriate approaches
  • Ability to quickly build and maintain collaborative relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver quality outputs swiftly in both structured and fluid project environments
  • A pragmatic approach to getting things done and managing multiple competing priorities
  • Experience in effectively communicating key project outcomes/insights to various stakeholders, adapting communication style and medium as needed
  • Experience running discovery, blue sky thinking and ideation workshops with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience in scoping projects/products and creating relevant assets (e.g., process maps, project scopes, business cases, user journeys, stakeholder maps, solution requirements)
  • A strong desire to learn and build on existing skills
