What's the job?

Within the Customer Data Quality Team, the Data Quality Analyst will ensure our single version of truth for customer data exists and that data quality is of the highest standard. They will interact with a varied group of stakeholders to truly understand our data and enable analysts and other data professionals across the business to have access to the data they need in the right way. They will work with the Data Quality Manager to develop our customer data quality strategy and operating framework that aligns with the business objectives of B&Q.

What we need:

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of our data quality strategy and operating framework.
  • Supporting the definition and execution of our migration strategy for the Customer Team to new cloud-based
    analytics platform.
  • Building and implementing our ‘single version of truth’ datasets by combining multiple data sources,
    including helping to define and manage customer entities.
  • Identification and mitigation of potential data quality issues at all stages of the data lifecycle.
  • Monitoring and measurement of data quality performance, using tools and process to ensure data quality is
    of the highest standard.
  • Alongside the Data Quality Manager, work closely with Tech and Kingfisher to help deliver our data quality
    framework and roadmap as well as ensuring the data in the data lake is in the right location for stakeholders
    to use.
  • Be an active member of the wider data community across the group, engaging with the group data team and
    other banners across the group.
  • Bring external thinking to B&Q by maintaining an awareness of analytics usage in retail and other sectors
    and by keeping abreast of competitor technology and developments.
  • Support the growth of new channels, Services, Digital, MarketPlace and Retail Media through reliable and
    controlled data sets.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • You’re skilled in SQL and have some experience using other languages such as Python or R.
  • You’ve had some experience using cloud based analytical platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Google
    BigQuery and the like.
  • You fully understand the importance of Data Governance and good Data Quality practices and have had
    experience implementing these.
  • You have experience with quality assurance, coding documentation and version control best practices.
  • You have a strong attention detail and are willing to take the time to ensure the accuracy of your work.
  • You’ve used Jira/Confluence before for managing workloads and documentation.
  • You’re curious: about how things work and getting to the bottom of business problems and data nuances.
  • You understand and maximise the value of data, and act with a commercial lens, prioritising the actions and
    usefulness of outputs.
  • You have good communication skills and an ability to converse with stakeholders.
