We see data as an asset that is critical for informing our business and driving performance. Data supports all areas of operations: informing our editors choices; supporting advertising revenue; and supporting our reader revenue teams to acquire more supporters and increase revenue per supporter.

About the Role

  • Deliver value to your stakeholders by defining a roadmap for the Data team, shaping the team's goals and strategies, documenting solutions, running training and demos of products
  • Help specify, build and deliver data products, including new data warehouse assets, dashboards and visualisations, enabling our internal team of data scientists and analysts
  • Manage existing data products, responding to change requests and feedback in an environment of continuous improvement
  • Ensure new assets are built according to the Guardian's data governance practices, defining data product ownership and ensuring data privacy
  • Support and drive the team in a highly collaborative environment, prioritising the right work, facilitating the decision making process and escalating where required

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in product management, ideally with experience working with data products and an understanding of data platforms (e.g. data warehouse/data lake) using cloud based technologies
  • Proven experience of understanding stakeholder goals and turning them into successful products and product performance metrics.
  • Has the drive and energy to keep up with a diverse set of stakeholders and can speak their language, including Analysts, Data Scientists and BI Teams
  • Enjoys the detail and problem solving whilst being able to communicate the bigger picture with strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of data analysis would be beneficial, (e.g. SQL, Tableau, Looker), as well as knowledge of data tooling (e.g. BigQuery, Alation, DBT, Fivetran, Airflow)

We're operating in a hybrid working model with a mix of office based and remote based work. The data team come into our London office 3 days a week
