Data Manager – Data Quality
Salary: The starting salary is £37,289, which includes allowances totalling £2,841
The salary is broken down as £34,448 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £36,864. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location / Hybrid Working:
Primarily the role will be based at New Scotland Yard, Hendon, Sidcup or Lambeth. Blended working with an expectation of 2 days minimum in the office per week. There may be a need for you to attend offsite meetings as required by the business. We actively support hybrid working solutions
Security Clearance:
Due to the secure nature of our work, successful candidates must pass all vetting and security requirements to CTC level, before they can be appointed.

The Role:
As the Data Manager - Data Quality, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to maintain and enhance the quality of our data assets, both physical and digital. Your work will be crucial in supporting the MPS mission of "More Trust, Less Crime, and High Standards" by ensuring that our data is trustworthy and able to drive exceptional operational outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Expertise Development: Developing a deep understanding of data quality principles and their application within the MPS
- Compliance Leadership: Ensuring that all information assets are designed and utilised with data quality compliance as a core component
- Guidance & Support: Providing expert data quality guidance to MPS Officers and Staff, helping them to understand and uphold the highest standards of data management
- Issue Resolution: Identifying and address data quality issues, offering critical solutions that enhance the integrity and reliability of our data
- Risk Management: Identifying and manage risks associated with data standards, ensuring that any implications are effectively mitigated

Essential skills:
- Data Protection Expertise: Possess a knowledge and understanding of the legal requirements for data retention and disposal in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018
- Motivation & Drive: You will be highly motivated and driven to achieve positive outcomes in data quality and management
- Commitment to Learning: Willingness and ability to engage in a learning program to develop expertise in data standards
- Presentation & Reporting: Ability to present findings, key performance indicators, and audit capabilities using O365 tools, or willingness to learn these skills
- Networking & Engagement: Ability to effectively network and develop relationships with the wider data office, MPS stakeholders, and external partners
- Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with confidence in producing and delivering professional presentations and written reports
- Data Cleansing Tools: Understanding of tools and techniques for data cleansing
- Microsoft Excel Proficiency: Proficient in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with SQL, Power BI, or Tableau for data analysis and visualisation
- Management and Leadership: Previously managed or mentored team members, providing leadership and guidance
