Job Description Summary

The Data Governance Manager plans and leads activities to manage the Finance data risk profile including remediation of key risk drivers, enhancement of controls, monitoring and management of risks & actions and delivery of key data governance forums & committees.

Background

We’re the UK’s biggest digital bank, with over 18 million online customers. But there’s still so much more we want to achieve. Data represents a critical part of our business and our vision for the future. We’re investing more than £3bn into our people, technology and data to ensure we can make a real, positive impact to millions of customers, businesses and communities, today and tomorrow.

Group Finance is central to Lloyds Banking Group and data is a key enabler in satisfying the needs of our internal and external customers. The Finance Data & Analytics Office (FDAO) is a Centre of Excellence of Data encompassing activities across Data Engineering, Data Management & Culture, Data Science and Reporting with a purpose to Empower through Trusted Data. We're evolving our data & analytics offering, our ethos, and our capability to craft a truly data-led organisation which is at the heart of the Finance Strategy.

Passionate about the power to be sparked when combining data and analytics, with evolving technology? Want to join a team that role models diversity, collaboration, a curious approach, and will be bold as we transform data across Finance? If the answer to these questions is yes, then read on.

The role/team

The Data Governance & Standards team, as part of the Data Management & Ethics team within FDAO oversights data risk management within Group Finance, defining and planning activities to reduce risk and improve control. Additionally, the team oversights data privacy and records management alongside running key governance forums and committees, ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance for managed data. You'll work with colleagues in the team under guidance of the Senior Manager, collaborating to drive stronger data risk management across Group Finance. The role involves ensuring that data risks are well managed within our risk management system (One RCSA), defining & monitoring action plans delivered by the wider Data Management & Ethics team or by business areas and colleagues, and defining & assessing risks and controls.

The role also includes developing approaches targeting remediation of specific key data risk drivers, developing initiatives and plans to be delivered and tracked across wider Group Finance areas. Creation of stakeholder materials is a key part of the role, increasing engagement for risk reduction & control activities often involving wide stakeholder discussions at senior levels within the Group, including agreeing findings and actions from Risk & Audit experts. You will work with other data teams across the Group including the central Chief Data & Analytics Office to support Group-wide initiatives aimed at improving data management and reducing our data risks. You will also need to deputise for the Senior Manager when required, providing insight and guidance to senior colleagues.

And you’ll help make FDAO a fantastic place to work – supporting our agenda on inclusion, growth and having fun. There’ll be lots of opportunities for you to get involved, be seen and to make a real difference. And through all of this, the underpinning thread is your role in Helping Britain Prosper.

A typical day in this role would include…

  • Defining, managing and assessing risks and controls.
  • Defining & monitoring action plans.
  • Ensuring risk management system data is high quality and effective.
  • Working with others within and outside the team on activities to reduce data risk and improve data control.
  • Working with Risk partners including Audit colleagues to agree and deliver actions.
  • Creating and refining stakeholder information including PowerPoint presentations and excel documents.
  • Analysing risk-related information to draw out insights and updates.
  • Ensuring high quality inputs to Data Governance Forums and Committees, and ensuring well-run meetings.

  • Has Risk Management systems experience - One RCSA for LBG.

It would also be great if you had experience of:

  • Working and leading in a varied and energised environment.
  • Collaborating within and across teams.
  • Producing senior presentations with simple summaries of detailed information, using strong communication skills (written and oral).
  • Developing and delivering plans and measures.
  • Responding at pace to senior direction.
  • Thinking creatively in designing solutions for traditional problems.
