The Opportunity

We're looking for a Data Engineer to join our Global Market Management Team (GMM) on a full time, permanent basis.

The Global Market Management Team (GMM) is continuing investment in data and analytics enabling the business to leverage Technology, Data and Analytics. The Global team covers all divisions including Data Science, which is still new in the world of commercial insurance, which means there is tremendous value in disrupting the market across diverse opportunities.

Your new role

Reporting to our Analytics Lead, you'll work collaboratively between the wider team, business stakeholders in the maintenance and development of the existing data pipelines as well as future development of new data models.

Main responsibilities:

  • Championing Data Engineering work for Salesforce, supporting data delivery into our Reporting tools and contribute to our Data Governance capabilities.
  • Maintaining and improving scripts, driving code development for existing and future projects for data sources that we’ll be pushing into Salesforce.
  • Working on various Data Science projects and reporting (Power BI).
  • Facilitating the design, development, and implementation of a fit-for-purpose data solutions.
  • Responding to data related questions and enquiries, using available data tools and procedures.
  • Support the identification and documentation of data requirements for work
  • Supporting our end users on the use and application of data warehouse information and on the use of reporting and analytical tools.
  • Opportunity to lead and mentor junior Analysts in the team

About you

You'll have an experience of working with a variety of methods and software tools to analyse and measure data, be a great communicator and enjoy continuous improvement.

Other skills you'll need:

  • Experience using R programming skills.
  • Experience using Power BI or any other reporting tools.
  • Experience of database tools or languages (SQL/ PL-SQL/ Oracle/ Sybase) and a wide variety of (large volume) data sources.
  • Experience in Python (beneficial).
  • Salesforce or any other CRM experience (beneficial).
  • Experience in designing full and complete solutions, producing specifications detailing solutions for approval by users and for technical use by developers and testers (beneficial).
  • Experience using structured analytical techniques within a data management environment role
