Data Engineer – Enterprise Risk Platform
Location – Leeds. We’re happy with home working the majority of the time, however you’ll need to be in office at least 1 day per week.
Salary & Benefits: The base salary banding for this role is £61,911 - £68,790 plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Our team in Enterprise Risk Platform is passionate about crafting new services that transform the customer and colleague experience.
Working within the Prudential & Analytics lab, you'll lead other data engineers and work with Risk customers to design and deploy data solutions that underpin the financial stability of Lloyds Banking Group.
This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a team delivering regulatory and technology change! This role sits within the inbound change team; you’ll be involved in a variety of risk projects. The team acts as an entry point for external change items such as product launches, system upgrades and regulatory changes.
We're seeking a role model to lead other engineers in the team by providing technical expertise and insight, and to support customers by ensuring the products we deliver are fit for purpose.
The majority of the architecture is split between SAS & Python with a roadmap to migrate to Cloud based technology.
We work using agile delivery practices, so a self-led individual capable of accurately estimating and planning their own work would be valued highly.
Specific activities which you’ll be responsible for include things like;
- Design, develop, maintain and improve data processes to support regulatory and prudential change. With high quality solutions and providing oversight and leadership to help others do the same
- Building data pipelines for current and future analytics and reporting solutions
- Implement and exemplify engineering standards to act as a mentor to colleagues, using constructive feedback to create opportunities for learning
- Work with the Product Owner and customers to understand, refine and prioritise items for the feature team backlog. By using strong problem solving skills and a combination of technical knowledge, experience and judgement to identify available options.
What do we need to see from applicants?
- A good appreciation of credit risk, including default/loss models and the regulatory reporting of metrics produced by those models
- Passion for software and data engineering, adopting the mindset of a curious engineer
- Literate in SQL and SAS or Python, to be able to read and understand the code written by others
- Ability to understand complex business requirements and create business ready solutions
- Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, particularly the ability to convey business information arising from technical subject matter to non-technical people.
Desirable skills:
- Insights into industry solutions for data management, storage and analytics coupled with experience of financial data, including Credit Risk, capital and impairment processes
- Cloud understanding, particularly GCP
- Experience of line management.
