You’ll play a crucial role in developing and implementing data solutions within our data lake, working alongside a team of talented Data Engineers. Your contribution will be essential in ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of data, ultimately delivering significant business value. At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. What you’ll be doing:
- Build detailed knowledge of AXA data sources, both internal and external, to effectively utilise and manage the data assets.
- Manage the day-to-day Data Asset management, keeping the data asset fresh and resolving issues promptly.
- Operate in a fast-paced, iterative environment while remaining compliant with Information Security policies and standards.
- Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to prepare data for use in their advanced analytical models, ensuring compatibility and usability.
- Help architect and build the strategic data platform in the data lake to enhance data processing and utilisation.
- Build reusable code and data assets using Software Engineering best practices and code frameworks.
- Codify best practices, methodology and share knowledge with other data engineers and scientists in AXA to facilitate knowledge sharing and process improvement.
- Ensure Data Governance practices are followed regarding the data assets created, maintaining data integrity and compliance.

What you’ll bring:
- Previous of experience in data engineering or related roles, working with data infrastructures.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with a basic understanding of their application in data engineering.
- Familiarity with Databricks or other data engineering platforms.
- Exposure to one or more cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Understanding of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data across various storage solutions.
- Basic understanding of information security and data governance principles.
- Confident in communicating with Business Analysts and other internal teams and the ability to work effectively with others.
- Knowledge of data automation tools such as Airflow, ADF, or similar is advantageous.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
