Your role at a glance

We have an opportunity for an experienced Data Architect to join our Cloud Data Engineering Architecture team within a prestigious FTSE 100 financial organisation.

As a capable and experienced Data Architect, you will have a detailed understanding of Cloud hosted databases, Data Warehouses, and Data Science Machine Learning and AI Data Hubs; you will be responsible for designing and implementing data architectures, data integrations, data models and data engineering standards.

What you'll be doing
  • Defining and maintaining data architecture standards and principles, including modelling metadata, data security, and reference data
  • Transforming business requirements into designs for data integration, data streaming & transformation, data models for databases, data lakehouses, data warehouses, data lakes
  • Clearly communicating and collaborating on data architecture designs with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Defining a reference data architecture, with best practice patterns for data engineers to follow to build and improve data systems
  • Undertaking analysis of data architecture and software alternatives, documenting associated benefits, costs, and risks
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in the strategic application of data architectures
What we're looking for
  • Demonstrable software engineering skills in designing data models using formal techniques
  • You are confident defining data standards across subject areas, acting as the escalation point for breaches of data standards and making recommendations for resolving standards violations
  • Exposure to modern cloud database systems such as Snowflake
  • Experience of building ELT/ETL or data pipelines, following Data Vault 2.0 or equivalent methodology, for Business Intelligence or Data Science systems
  • Excellent communication skills with a meticulous attention to detail. You are able to understand abstract concepts, and apply mathematical and statistical methods to data in order present findings to management and stakeholders in an easy-to-understand way
