What you’ll do:
You’ll work within the Risk function, helping us protect our 22 million customers, keeping Lloyds Banking Group safe, successful and sustainable while supporting the Group to Help Britain Prosper.
You’ll have an analytical mind with an ambition to develop this capability professionally.
Customers are at the heart of or business and decision making, looking after their needs means we need to lead on all aspects of risk to protect our brands and customers. That’s quite a responsibility, given that we’re one of Britain’s largest banks and the largest provider of digital financial products in the UK.
You’ll gain experience in one of our teams who are responsible for reconciling, analysing and reporting on key data. Whether it’s managing that key data to ensure it is of the highest quality or using the data to help make lending decisions or manage and understand business performance. The role provides an excellent opportunity to build core data skills and gain experience through a mixture of formal training and on-the-job learning.
About the programme & what you’ll learn:
Starting in September 2023, you’ll be supported through a fully funded Level 4 – Data Analyst Apprenticeship professional qualification - delivered by our trusted partner Firebrand, which will lead onto the Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions Professional Data Analytics Apprenticeship, with a combined study time of four years.
Whilst on the Apprenticeship scheme 20% of your time will be dedicated to ‘Mandatory Apprenticeship Hours’, which can include attending workshops, shadowing, reading, completing assignments etc. This means 80% of your role is applying your learning in the workplace, in a safe environment.
Across the first 12 months of your apprenticeship, you will attend 4 workshops - roughly spaced 3 months apart - where you will learn about Introduction to Data Analytics, Analytics in Practice, Advanced Analytics in Practice and Communication Insight.
The workshops are for either 4 or 5 days in length with the opportunity to study on a residential basis, allowing collaboration and networking time with your cohort, or joining virtually as part of the hybrid offering.
Please note – you’ll be required to be based in the location listed on this vacancy and will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week.
By the end of this programme, not only will you have a BSC Hons in Digital and Technology Solutions you’ll have a clear path for progression within Lloyds Banking Group and a firm understanding of your strengths and career goals.
As part of this role you’ll learn to…
- Identify data for analysis based upon requirements
- Manipulate, merge and link different data sets as required
- Establish reporting needs and draw recommendations
- Compile data in preparation for analysis
- Compile data from multiple sources including: data bases, spreadsheets and reports
- Interpret and apply the organisations data and information security standards, policies and procedures to data management activities
- Perform database queries across multiple tables to extract data for analysis
- Schedule and automate queries
- Use data mining tools to discover useful patterns in large data sets
- Apply the tools and techniques for data analysis, data visualisation and presentation
- Summarise and present the results of data analysis to a range of stakeholders making recommendations
- Use data and commercial knowledge to extract insight from analysis to assist with decision making
- Communicate complex ideas simply through a strong commercial story
- Use exciting and impactful data visualisations
- Present results verbally and via written reports
Entry requirements:
We expect you to be motivated, ambitious and committed to your own development. In particular, you’ll be keen to get to grips with financial systems and processes.
In order to complete an apprenticeship, there needs to be a significant learning need. You need to consider your previous qualifications or significant relevant work experience which may mean you cannot proceed with this application. What this means is if you have higher qualifications, e.g. a Degree in computer science or you have previous experience in this type of role, you may be over-qualified for this position.
The minimum qualifications required are:
- GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade 4 - 9 (or an equivalent qualification) – this includes predicted grades OR
- If you have not achieved GCSE Maths and English Grade 4 - 9 (or equivalent), you will commit to undertake Functional Skills in Maths and English to bring you up to this level.
Application Process:
After submitting your initial application, you’ll be required to complete a Job Insight Assessment, which includes a Numerical Reasoning Test. If successful at this stage, you’ll be invited to attend a virtual assessment centre as part of the selection process. We’ll let you know as soon as we can if you have been successful at each stage.
