Data Analyst

We’re looking for a creative people-person who can process and analyse data, create and implement solutions, produce easily understandable insights and utilise data science principles to help guide decision-making across Boots.
You’ll join a well-established team that develops and delivers the science, analytics and tools helping Boots give our customers the products and services they want.
About the role
You will be involved with a blend of analytics & data science with a focus on translating and interpreting the science into commercial benefits within the Boots business.
In addition to processing data and developing analytics, you will be involved in evaluating commercial trials and supporting with the development of our reporting capabilities in a varied, hands-on role.
Sitting within the Data Science & Analytics team, you will have access to large datasets and analytical tools which you will use to inform and direct conversations on range optimisation, operational efficiencies, pharmacy services and geospatial sciences.
You’ll be inquisitive and have the technical capability to capture data, create valuable insights, and communicate the results with stakeholders. We want you to show us what you are capable of, and you will be both supported and challenged.

- We don’t like to leave things to chance. You will work with our teams and third-party partner to develop and statistically evaluate commercial trials, permitting fantastic exposure to how a modern commercial retailer operates.
- We love to feel part of a team. You will support the continued development of the Boots Data Office and embedding reporting tools across the business.
What you’ll need to have
You will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team. Excited by taking on responsibility and looking to create value from data and create the insight and tools to solve business problems.
You will demonstrate capability/experience with the following core requirements:
- Relevant previous experience or a degree with quantitative elements (such as Maths, Physics, Geography, Computer Science, Psychology)
- Logical thinking when solving problems.
- Proficiency in a coding language such as SQL, Python, R etc.
- Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI
- Ability to present complex results to less technical audiences.
- Ability to understand questions as analytical problems and using available data, quantitative modelling or statistical analysis techniques to develop solutions.
- Detail orientated and have the drive to investigate and fix potential errors.
- Ability to organise your workload, often balancing numerous projects and campaigns simultaneously.
- You will aim for improvements and helping others to achieve their best.
It would be great if you also have
- Experience with GIS software and techniques, or Alteryx Designer.
- Demonstrable record of producing results in a commercial environment.
- Ability to complete tasks with vague information.
- Expertise in working with large structured and unstructured data sets.
