Compliance – Data Risk Management Director

As a Data Risk Management Director in the Global Data Risk Management & Privacy group, you will be part of an innovative and talented team supporting firmwide data risk and the Firmwide Data & Analytics Office. This position requires knowledge and experience in compliance as well as familiarity with key data-related laws, rules, regulations, and industry standards. You will lead a team that will align appropriate policies, guidance, training, and oversight activities for the firm; oversee and challenge Firmwide Chief Data Office governance; and provide subject matter expertise on BC BS 239 and other laws, rules, and regulations related to data quality, retention and destruction, data use, data protection, data resiliency and localization.
Job responsibilities
- Develop review, and maintain data-related policies, standards, and guidance that establish minimum requirements for complying with key data-related laws, rules, regulations, and industry standards.
- Remain current with the evolving regulatory landscape regarding data governance and/or data management.
- Work directly with senior leaders in CCOR and the first line of defense to provide credible challenge to assessments of the risk and control environment, including issue identification and remediation and control effectiveness.
- Develop compliance monitoring & testing activities, including working with technology teams to develop and/or expand automation of monitoring activities.
- Escalate emerging risks and issues and prepare and present relevant reports for senior leaders.
- Support regulatory engagements, including responding to queries, regular meetings, and exams, focus reviews, or on-site inspections, through drafting responses or creating presentation materials.
- Report the results of GDRM activities, such as challenges to risk assessments, results of monitoring and testing second line-identified issues and required corrective actions, to senior managers and other stakeholders.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Compliance, Operational Risk, Or Legal
- Experience developing policies or standards related to data quality, retention and destruction, data protection, use, localization, and/or data resiliency
- Work experience in oversight and credible challenge to risk assessments and control evaluations
- Experience developing monitoring and testing activities
- Highly motivated, energetic self-starter who takes ownership and manages deliverables with a strong attention to detail and completes deliverables in a timely manner
- Collaborates effectively with colleagues at all levels of seniority, across all lines of business and corporate functions and senior stakeholders across the organization
- Ability to quickly understand and assess complex situations or processes, makes decisions and escalates when necessary
- Strong analytical skill set, practical judgment, and influencing abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly and succinctly demonstrate a sound understanding of the most relevant issues, risks, and concerns (including written communications) and provide an independent assessment
