The APAC Chief Data Office is a business-centric organization whose purpose is to unlock value for our stakeholders through timely delivery of high-quality, compliant data. The Chief Data Office oversees the overall strategy and execution of the Business’ data agenda.  The Strategic Execution team is responsible for oversight of the program/project planning and execution; policy/standard requirements implementation planning and execution; facilitating the assessment of new tactical and strategic demands impacting data governance.

The team works closely with the CIB data pillar teams (Data Use; Data Quality; Data Storage; Data Protection; Retention & Destruction; Data Governance) and Control Management to maintain project standards and partner on implementation of data requirements.

In this role you will support multiple initiatives while partnering across global teams and regularly collaborating throughout the organization. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to support the Chief Data Office People Agenda and the broader CIB Chief Data and Analytics Office Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with senior Data Product and Data Analytics leads to manage their businesses and lead day-to-day execution including the build and commercialization of new data products and AI/ML solutions, which may include identifying and refining business cases, assessing commerciality, obtaining required approvals, overseeing development and driving marketing plans
  • Managing results through leadership and partnership, managing multiple work streams and priorities concurrently
  • Lead our strategic vision of enabling data use while protecting data as an asset to the firm and help promote this culture within the business
  • Execute project management such as tracking deliverables from identification to completion, preparing materials, coordinating with subject matter experts, and supporting stakeholder meetings
  • Manage short to medium term projects inclusive of project plan development, status tracking, production of project reporting and communications
  • Facilitate the resolution of key issues across stakeholders and produce the related reporting (e.g., risks; actions; issues; dependencies/ decision; path to green) and impact communications
  • Help foster and sustain a global culture that celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion through participation in the Chief Data and Analytics Office DEI Council and support for the Chief Data Office People Agenda.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:

  • Ability to lead and influence multiple J.P. Morgan teams, including those outside direct reporting lines, towards common goals and outcomes
  • Strong affinity and interest in data, technology, architecture, AI or ML. Practitioner level expertise is not necessary
  • Ability to work with and act as a liaison between technical experts such as Product Developers, Product Managers, Product Controllers, Data Scientists, Finance and Legal on one hand, but also with Business senior executives on the other hand
  • Clearly articulate ideas and opportunities where data, analytics and tools can provide business value
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and influencing skills
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills (problem structuring, driving to an answer, having a point of view)
  • An ability to work in and navigate in large, complex organizations
  • A high tolerance for ambiguity
  • High energy and entrepreneurial
  • Strong project management abilities

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:

  • 12 or more years of project and business management experience within financial services
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or other related disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin to support clients from China
  • The candidate must be self-motivated and resourceful with the ability to work independently but not alone, in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with partners and other senior stakeholders to support the goals of the business
  • Demonstrated proficiency using PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with project planning, tracking and status reporting
  • Strong communication skills across platforms – emails, meeting facilitation, presentations, documentation
  • Strong analytical, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Logical, structured approach to planning, problem solving and decision-making
  • Executes tasks under aggressive targets; maintains a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize/multi-task
  • Builds a sense of community, creating a positive team environment and modelling a global, diverse mindset and inclusive behaviour
