About the role

 

Haleon is hiring a Data Governance Specialist to be part of our Enterprise Data Governance team, which is responsible for driving the design, build and operations of a function that will have end-to-end accountability for embedding effective Data Governance across Haleon.

The Data Governance Specialist will work with the Data Management team and the broader Haleon Data Office to drive implementation of the strategy, processes, technology and resources to achieve this, working closely with the stakeholders from the wider organisation to ensure compliance with both newly created and established policies and procedures. They will focus on enabling safe and effective use of data, managing risk and driving continuous improvement of capabilities and efficiencies within the organisation.

The role will require cross-functional interaction with leaders and teams across Haleon’s business functions and markets, partnering with a wide array of stakeholders to deliver Data Governance initiatives. This position presents an opportunity to play an active role in delivering an important and strategic function which will be critical to Haleon’s continued success.

As Haleon moves towards becoming a truly data-centric organisation, this is a high-impact and high-visibility role that requires strong communication and collaboration skills, an analytical approach, deep Data Governance experience and the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels from across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Work alongside Data Governance Lead, Data Management team and key stakeholders to evolve the vision for how Haleon will govern and manage its data assets.
  • Play an active role in refining and delivering the Data Governance framework including participating in relevant forums to escalate and resolve data issues, share knowledge and best practices amongst the Haleon Data community.
  • Establish, maintain, periodically review and recommend changes to Data Governance artefacts (e.g. policies, standards, procedures etc.) with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining, communicating, and enforcing data processes, policies, SOPs, and standards.
  • Work closely with Data Owners and Data Stewards to identify and implement key processes e.g. Data Maintenance, Data Quality rule implementation etc.
  • Define and monitor Data Governance KPIs and leverage insight to drive performance improvement opportunities.
  • Create, review, approve data definitions and assist in defining data quality metrics for periodic release.
  • Work with appropriate stakeholders to identify and implement continuous improvement for data maintenance and data quality.
  • Define training requirements for any changes in policies, processes, or ways of working.
  • Providing quality assurance – oversight, monitor, report results to Data Governance team.
  • Support the regulatory and compliance team in capturing any emerging risks, maintaining oversight on existing risks, reviewing and implementing any changes to processes, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks.

What are we looking for?

  • Deep experience in designing, delivering and operating Data Governance capabilities in complex organisations across multiple markets, functions, and data domains.
  • Hands-on experience with Data Governance organisational design and operations, developing supporting tools/artefacts/capabilities required for effective Data Governance, e.g., roles & responsibilities, policies, standards, processes, procedures, data quality management, KPI definition and reporting, metadata & reference data management (cataloguing, data lineage etc).
  • Designing and operating multi-tiered Data Governance forums with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to interact with and influence individuals at all levels.
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to supervise and support colleagues with Data Governance activities.
  • A good understanding of common data compliance regulations.
