Digital Architect

About the Role:
As a Solution Architect within the Chief Technology Office, you will design and deliver solutions that align with our fast-flow value streams and ensure that the architecture enables iterative delivery. You'll work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Engineering teams to ensure that our solutions are scalable, resilient, and aligned with both business and technical objectives.
As a Digital Architect, you will play a key role in shaping our digital landscape, ensuring seamless client interactions, and driving the adoption of best practices and modern frameworks. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic thinker who is passionate about designing impactful, scalable digital solutions that enhance user experience and engagement.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in designing complex, scalable architectures in an agile environment.
- Expertise in cloud architecture (Azure preferred).
- Strong knowledge of DevOps practices and automation of infrastructure using IAC.
- The ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams, aligning architecture with business goals.
- Understanding of microservices, APIs, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and implementation.
- Experience with data lake technologies such as Azure Data Lake.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C#.
Key Responsibilities:
- Digital Strategy and Guidance:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and product managers, to define and execute a forward-looking digital strategy.
- Provide architectural guidance focused on external-facing client interactions, such as websites and other digital channels, to enhance user experience.
- Technology Adoption:
- Lead the adoption and standardisation of tools, frameworks, and products within the digital team to ensure cohesive and efficient development.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to inform digital architecture decisions.
- Identity and Access Management (IAM):
- Design and implement secure IAM solutions to enable seamless and protected user access across digital platforms.
- Address requirements for authentication, authorisation, and single sign-on (SSO) across client-facing applications.
- API Design and Integration:
- Architect APIs in a multi-tiered environment, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Partner with development teams to design, develop, and integrate APIs that enable data flow between various systems.
- System Integration:
- Collaborate with enterprise architects to align digital systems with the existing enterprise infrastructure.
- Ensure interoperability and seamless data exchange between digital platforms and backend systems.
- Performance and Scalability:
- Optimise digital solutions to deliver high performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Identify potential bottlenecks and design solutions that support future growth and high-traffic demands.
Required Experience:
- Experience: Proven experience (5+ years) as a Digital Architect or similar role.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of web technologies, cloud platforms (e.g. Optimizely), and associated architectural design principles.
- Frameworks: Familiarity with modern front-end and back-end frameworks to support dynamic, scalable digital solutions.
- Identity and Access Management: Proficiency with IAM solutions, including OAuth and OpenID Connect.
- API Design: Strong expertise in API design, RESTful principles, and integration best practices.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Geospatial Data: Knowledge of geospatial data handling and related technologies.
