ABOUT THE JOB

The Cloud Data Platform created by the DnA Tribe is now the backbone of Admirals data strategy. Over the next few years, we will continue to migrate our data and analytics workload to the platform, and we are looking for data engineers to join us on this journey.

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer looking to take the next step in their career into the world of technology and data to help us build out our data pipelines, reports and analytical capabilities.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic numerically minded individual, that has experience working with different sources of data and can think creatively around a brief and challenge. You must have a keen interest in programming, analytics and data, be excited to cross skill, have good problem-solving skills and be ready to research and learn new techniques that can be applied to the task at hand.

You will be working in the Agile framework within the Data Engineering Chapter of the DnA Tribe.  You should be capable of working independently as well as part of a diverse team whilst delivering to agreed timelines in a fast-paced and changing environment.  Training will be offered on any new technologies or area.

Responsibilities

You will be part of a multi-disciplined team expanding our Cloud Data Platform, involved in work spanning better data, better tooling, and better decisions.  Across the Tribe you would be expected to:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of our Pricing and Analytics departments enabling you to identify areas and opportunities for development and efficiencies.
  • Become an effective point of contact for other departments to discuss business problems and potential solutions.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new users to the tool set and managing the change created by a new way of working.
  • Maintain and develop data extraction and transformation processes from both on premise and external sources for both batch and streaming data.
  • Reconcile our data in the cloud back to source systems and develop tools and code to make the process more efficient.
  • Find value within our platform, be that different tooling methods, improvements to ETL pipeline or improve processes.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong experience wokring within a Cloud environment e.g. GCP
  • Experience working with Big Data required, preferably in the field of finance or insurance.
  • Experience with SQL and any other programming language e.g. Python.
  • Strong numeracy and problem-solving skills.
  • Curious mindset with a desire to explore and learn about new tools and tech.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine interest in Data and Analytics and driving forward our capability in the field.

Location

We are working in a hybrid approach and so are in the office once per week in Cardiff. However, we are open to discussing flexibility around this (UK only). We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home.

Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance

We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
