WID 2017

Document Logistix has partnered with Women in Data UK this year as we have seen the positive work WID UK has done in recent times to develop a community in which Data professionals find support and inspiration. We are pleased to have our name associated with an organisation that is focused on promoting the place of Data Science in industry as well as nurturing women within the data sector.

Document Logistix is a leading document management software and solutions provider. Our work is associated with enterprise content management (ECM) and content services. In addition to core information capture, storage, retrieval and retention functions, we are closely involved with automated workflow, business intelligence and systems integration that build efficiency and better user experiences. We work across many industry sectors, including retail, finance, manufacturing and logistics.

Document Logistix works with many departments in which females pioneer new information management strategies. Our US President, Kim Kuykendall, in particular, has given her personal support to women heading innovative cross-State projects in HR records management and in legal case management.

In September this year the UK Head Office featured the pioneering work being carried out in Education and in Not For Profit organisations by female department heads on missions to manage complexity for the benefit of their communities.

We have also taken steps closer to home to look at the importance of diversity in technology teams. We are delighted to acknowledge the contribution of Zenad Habib to the development of our newly-launched mobile workflow function. Our CTO says that Zenad led the development team to complete the project in a third of the time he might reasonably have expected. We have seen the cultural and practical benefits of diversity and look forward to hearing the debate on its value continued at WiD UK 2017.

Some descriptionEmilie Barlow will be at WiD UK 2017. Emilie is Document Logistix’ Sector Sales Manager and Data Protection Consultant. She has been working for Document Logistix for 5 years and is currently the only woman in the sales team. Emilie has recently been hosting seminars on the hot topic of GDPR. She is looking forward to meeting like-minded, career-focused women at WiD UK.

How Document Logistix see the data landscape changing in the UK in the next 5 years

The data landscape is constantly changing. However, over the next five years, we expect to see more organisations engaging in the data-driven approach. We know we’ll see more decisions —particularly complex decisions— made quickly using data, in conjunction with artificial intelligence.

With this comes the challenge of moving to Machine Learning and deploying the right algorithms. We’re advocates for artificial intelligence, but we want to be part of the education process to help organisations harness the power of their data, in the right way.

We’re also seeing the analytics revolution driving innovation into areas such as DevOps and DataOps; as teams need to embrace standardisation development techniques and practices, such as version control and continuous integration. This creates growth opportunities for all of us in the analytics community.
