I’m the Head of Business Data Modelling – Chief Data Office at Lloyds Banking Group. I have extensive financial services experience across the Global Credit Rating and Banking sectors.
While studying Oceanography at Southampton University, I discovered the impact data management had on the ability to produce reliable analytics and I wanted to learn more. So I looked for opportunities to develop my practical experience of data management, interning at the Global Credit Rating Agency, Standard & Poor’s, and as a post-grad I joined as a Data Analyst.
In 8 years I learned every major discipline across the data management spectrum; from data operations, to data governance, stewardship, data operations and more. This culminated in leading the Asset Backed Securities Data operations teams across EMEA & APAC.
While I was there, I was offered a role as Vice President at JP Morgan Chase to set-up the controls room EMEA MI and reporting function, supporting the operational risk and controlling functions.
The transferable nature of my data management skillset meant I could quickly add value to a new focus area. I successfully expanded the team’s remit to cover the international regions, supporting EMEA, APAC and LATAM.
In 2015 I joined Lloyds Banking Group as a Senior Manager, helping set up the Group’s Chief Data Office. In my career I’ve worked across all aspects of data management.
In addition to my professional achievements, I recently became a mum, with baby number two on its way. I now head up business data modelling for the Chief Data Office, and I’m fortunate that my manager and the Group have been incredibly supportive in helping me achieve a great work-life balance.
Throughout my career I feel privileged to have worked alongside so many inspiring female role models and leaders in data, spurring my drive and passion to advance as a data management professional.
My advice for anyone looking to get into a career in data would be to go for it. The possibilities are endless, and you should never be afraid to move outside your comfort zone.
